Anyone ever encounter this one?
I was attempting to troubleshoot my store. It has been working fine (at least as far as presenting pages and whatnot). I made my first sale today using the store. In reviewing with my purchaser, I find that they didn’t see an E-Mail with download info and no page presenting download links.
Soooo, off I go to troubleshoot. I find threads about enabling debug mode so I do that. I run through a couple of transactions. File not updated. Check permissions. Not writable. Set permissions to 666 and try again. Nothing. Figure maybe folder needs adjusting. Set permissions to 666 for folder. Then site is now acting strange. Any attempt to view it results in “Error establishing a database connection” as if somehow I’ve lost my database.
Admittedly in a bit of a panic at the moment…
September 20, 2010 at 2:04 pm #24565MagusMemberAddendum…
I can still get to the site via FTP. I did see that the log file was updated. Unfortunately, everything it logged appears to be successful. It does sort of abruptly end. So I’m not sure I’m seeing everything to the end.
Could changing permissions on the folder while this was going on have affected this?
Cheers… Rick
September 20, 2010 at 4:14 pm #24566wzpModeratorThe permissions for the plugin directory and all subdirectories should be 755. The permissions for all files in the plugin directory and all subdirectories should be 644.

September 20, 2010 at 5:46 pm #24568MagusMemberThanks for the heads up on the permissions. I’ll have to check that. I’m using FileZilla and right-clicking to adjust permissions. Assuming that is fine.
Tried to sort the sandbox but ended up mostly confused about how to proceed with it. So I gave up.
I did add something to the cart and upon clicking the checkout button I saw that PayPal opened and that it seemed to have the right info. But upon trying to checkout, PayPal saw my account as a merchant and refused to allow me to proceed. This morning I found a card that could be used for testing. So I configured a product for .01 and have been testing that way.
Thanks for the info… Rick
