As far as I can see it is not possible to use variations and a shipping calculation based on weight. The reason being that there is no way (as with wp-ecommerce) to specify the weight for each variations. For this reason the weight of the order is the same no matter what the customer selects in the variation field.

This flaw probably stems from the fact that this plugin was originally written for electronic products only.

Please let me know if there is a way around this problem.

Yes you are correct. WP eStore has been mainly designed to sell digital products which we make clear on our product page. We only have simple shipping option for non-digital product. This is to make sure that we do not make the plugin complicated to use and loose the advantage of being able to provide a lightweight and easy to use plugin.

Pdelisle, have you figured out an alternative or a way around this? I’m having the same issue and really don’t want to add all the products separately according to size.

Anything you found helpful would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Hi all,

I came across the same issue and wondered how hard or easy it would be to add a weight option to the variation line? I know that you have a clear statement as mentioned above, but it seems like it would be a fairly easy thing to do. if its easy then why not? If its not, oh well, I’ll live. :)

So, for my application I have :

Combo Savings|Just this CD|Add Wax and Seal:6.00|Add Live at St. Kevins:4.00|Buy all three:12.00

But instead I could have this (noting that each CD is 0.2 pounds weight):

Combo Savings|Just this CD:0:.2|Add Wax and Seal:6.00:.4|Add Live at St. Kevins:4.00:.4|Buy all three:12.00:.6

ALSO This could be combined with digital variation so with weight your product is physical and can be shipped. With zero weight it is strictly digital.

    Thanks
