K, So, it is rather a simple request. We have eStore installed and configured and it is working well on our blog. It is an actual blog. So, we are thinking we might want to create a shop with a different address (URL) in one of the sub directories. So, blog.domain.com currently points to public_html/blog and we are looking to create a /public_html/blog/shop and point a completely different URL [http://www.othersomain.com] at that. We are hoping to have a very simple 1 or 2 page site there with just our products with a simple link back up to the main website and the blog above. Is this possible without a completely separate installation?

We understand the hosting and dns requirement. We already have it setup so that we can access the sub directory with that new URL; but what do we need to do within WP and eStore?

Because you want to use 2 different domains, you need to use 2 completely independent WordPress installations; one for each domain. That’s because (among other reasons) your DNS records will be pointing to 2 different document roots.

As long as you are the owner of both sites, you are covered by (item 3 of) the WP eStore license agreement.

That is great; how about, is there anyway to share the data / information? The problem is I really don’t want two separate stores? I am fine with multiple installations and I am even fine with paying to license them separately; but I do not want to have multiple data sets as everything in both stores will be identical.

Please read the following post to learn how WordPress works with the separate installs:

On the second site, the sales pages could have buttons that link back to the store on the main site.

    Would that work for you?

K, some of those tricks will work. Here is my problem. I have actually started creating and setting up the eStore on the “side blog” site. We have already put some 30 plus products in there. Now that I have a better understanding; I would like to move that installation to the store site and then link it from the side site as you had mentioned. Is there an easy way to move the eStore from one WP site to another? Again, sorry for the slew of questions.

k, so, I looked deeply into moving the data from the one installation to the other using export and importing the DB tables and I was unsuccessful. The tables all moved; however, I do not have any of the products from the original installation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Tamer

So, I finally used the clone application feature available on my hosting platform. That worked perfectly for copying the DB and all the products.

    Thanks all…

Sometimes, your best resource is the one (your hosting provider) that you are paying for every month.
