Greetings! And so my first foray into these forums. And as a relative newbie to WordPress… please be gentle with me
I’ve just installed WP Photo Seller for a site I’m putting together for someone else. I need to make things as easy as possible for them to use the galleries as they’ll be uploading a lot, and regularly (photobooth hire company). So far it all looks fantastic; really nice work.
However, there’s one ‘little’ thing I can’t seem to sort out, and wonder if it’s not actually possible at the moment. I may well be missing something simple, so my apologies if that’s the case; I don’t like to waste anyone’s time!
When I create a new Gallery, a new Page is automatically created. The Page Template for that Page is left blank in the page settings so the front-end loads the default site template (page.php in the main theme folder). I need each page created by the galleries to use a specific Page Template (photo-gallery-template.php in this case) but it seems the only way to assign it is to subsequently go to each gallery page and edit the settings. This isn’t ideal as the end user is bound to forget (like I have been) and will probably get a bit frustrated with having to go and find the page settings every time a gallery is set up.
I can replace “page.php” with a duplicate of the template I want to use for the moment, but this isn’t really a good long term solution.
So, in a nutshell: Is it possible to set a specific Page Template when a Gallery is created? If not, could the possibility be added to the feature wishlist please?
Many thanks for any advice offered.
Cheers,
Frank

However, this can be done programmatically, and we will put your suggestion in our TODO list for new features.

I’ve had a brief look into it at this end now (possibility of using update_post_meta with _wp_page_template, possibly in gallery-add-edit.php ?) but it’s way beyond me so I’ll leave it to the experts
Thanks again for your confirmation and I look forward to a possible update at some point.
