I just recently purchased emembers for a client that I’m working with. I like a lot of the functionality, but noticed that there is no way to search the members list by an other variables besides username and email. I would like to be able to search by name in the even a user forgets their username, etc.
This seems like a pretty large oversight to only be able to search by these two variables. Looked in the forums but didn’t see any help. Is there functionality that I can customize the plugin myself without it being overwritten by a future update?
March 9, 2012 at 4:01 am #42847adminKeymasterNo one actually asked to be able to search with first name and last name. The plugin is meant to work in an automated fashion where your members serve themeselves (you as the admin don’t have a lot of manual work to do unless you decide to set it up for manual approval and stuff). If a member forgets his details he/she just uses the forgot password mechanism.
Anyway, it shouldn’t be too hard to extend the search for firstname and lastname so we will look into adding that to the plugin.

The search by name or e-mail used to work in the previous version. I wonder if there is a setting that will enable this that I am overlooking.

September 11, 2013 at 4:42 am #42850adminKeymasterWe have made some eMember admin interface changes in the recent build which is causing this. We will add the ability to search with name and email to that interface.

November 18, 2014 at 4:29 am #42852clearscopedesignParticipantWhen searching within eMember for certain last names, such as O’Neill and O’Doherty, we are not able to find the members that we are searching for – no results at all come up, even though these last names are in use.
It seems as though the eMember search function is having a problem with the apostrophe – could this please be fixed so that these characters don’t impede the member search results?
Thank you
November 26, 2014 at 6:59 pm #42853gpasheMemberAt a push you might get results if you search for o’neill or o’doherty, however from what I am seeing the search results may not be complete. I have raised a ticket on this and added to another existing one. Hopefully this will be fixed soon as not only does it affect search results, but also data export and in some cases member data is lost.
November 27, 2014 at 1:01 am #42854adminKeymasterJust wanted to let you know that this is being worked on.
