You must set the email in your store to same as your paypal email address for digital downloads to work.

You should set your eStore email address in settings to the email of your paypal account. Cart, s3 and the rest will not work if you don’t do this first.

Yes, that is correct. Under Payment Gateway Settings, you must provide your Paypal Email Address or Secure Merchant ID.

All other email addresses can be whatever you want.
