Hi, I searched the forum and could not find an answer to my questions. I don’t know if I just don’t understand what keywords to use for finding my answer, so I will ask the questions below ….
I want to create a monthly subscription membership and want to pay affiliates a commission for each month for 12 months that someone keeps the membership. First, is it possible for affiliates to earn commissions for each of the 12 months as long as the payments are being made to keep a membership?
Second, I want to create an initial payment up front before the monthly payments are accepted, like $297 initial and then $47 per month for 12 months … will the commissions get paid on the initial payment and also on the $47 per month for each of the 12 months if everything is set up with one sign up transaction?
If this is possible, I’m guessing the user (person who buys the membership) will need to have a paypal account … if the membership user needs a paypal account, what type of paypal account do they need to have in order to register for the membership so that the affiliate can earn the reoccurring commissions for the initial and also the 12 monthly payments? Personal paypal? or business paypal account needed for this?
I also have another question about protecting the affiliate sign up and login pages inside of the membership protected pages to keep people from becoming an affiliate until they have purchased a membership. If you want me to create another topic for this question for the forum, I can do that, but I would also like to ask here as well just in case …
I want to set up a paid membership and not allow the general public to become an affiliate or have access to the affiliate sign up and login pages until they log into their paid membership account. Will the affiliate program still work properly if I protect the affiliate sign up and login page inside of the protected membership pages? Is this possible? In other words, if someone sent the affiliate login page URL link to another person who did not have a paid membership, the affiliate page would be protected and they would need to sign in, or sign up to gain access to the affiliate sign up and login pages.
November 8, 2012 at 3:18 pm #51161masmoolaMemberI had one other question that I forgot to ask … if the commissions can be paid on the initial payment and the reoccurring billing for 12 months, can second tier commissions also be paid on the initial payment and the 12 additional monthly payments?
November 8, 2012 at 4:23 pm #51162masmoolaMemberSorry, but I also have a third question as well … I want to create a one-off, hidden content (special offer) on a page, but I wanted to offer that content via a link from an email sent from my Aweber account after people sign up on my email list instead of going through a purchase option.
I want to offer the one-time option for savings in the hidden content, but still give them the link to come back to the pages later for the regular purchase options.
Is this possible? If not, what would be my best option?
Thank you.
November 9, 2012 at 2:50 am #51163adminKeymasterThe answers depend on what you are using to create those recurring payments and what membership plugin you are using.
Are you using eStore and eMember with the affiliate plugin for this project? If you are, then the answer to all of your questions are “YES”.
November 9, 2012 at 5:27 am #51164masmoolaMemberHow would I create the hidden, one-off content on a page and be able to send that page link via my Aweber email program to everyone who registers on my Aweber sign up box?
I created the screen cast video for your one-off plugin feature, but I don’t know how to set that up for delivering the link via adding the link to my Aweber list and having the information be hidden. Do I just send the URL link and nothing more?
Can I have a regular, non monthly payment type PayPal account to handle all of the reoccurring payment options?
Thank you.
November 10, 2012 at 3:01 am #51165adminKeymasterIf you are referring to the APR feature (see the following link) then you will need to manually generate a link for the product in question then send that special link via your AWeber email. This way, users will have access to that page after they click on this special link for a limited time. You can generate links for your products from the eStore’s Admin Functions menu.

Yes, a regular PayPal account will allow you to accept recurring payment. If you want to have the credit card checkout option for the recurring payments then you will need to contact PayPal and add that service to your account. This is a service that PayPal sells as an addon (this option is not free).
December 11, 2012 at 6:50 am #51166mibizappsMemberI have an additional question for a similar product to this one. Membership is upfront cost & monthly subscription.
I want to pay affiliates commission for a set duration (ie. 365 days).
The system has ‘affiliate tiers’ & it has a way to set the second tier affiliate to get the commission on that referral for a limited number of days.
But I can’t see how we can set it so that the actual affiliate who referred only gets the commission on the first years worth of income.
December 11, 2012 at 11:58 pm #51167adminKeymasterHi, there is no option to do commission for the first year only on a recurring payment. The two available options for eStore and the affiliate plugins are:
1) Apply commission on the first payment of the recurring subscription only.
2) Apply recurring commission every time a recurring payment is charged.
December 31, 2012 at 5:18 pm #51168masmoolaMemberHi, I have a couple questions based on the last answer you made just above …
You made note that there are the two options about applying commissions and I don’t see those two options anywhere with a check box. Are these two options auto built into the programs?
I created a service that offers three products from one website. Each of the three products I’m offering from the same website are basically the same with the initial payment and then 12 monthly payments. The second of the three products will be offered at the end of the 12 monthly payments, so that the people who complete the first product will sign up for the second product at the end of the first product(or 12 months later) … and then the third of the three products will be offered after the second one is completed at the end of the second year …
The third product will be the same initial payment but then 60 months of payments instead of 12 payments like the first two products …
my question for these three products in the way I am delivering them with the spread in time and the entire 7 year time period is …
If an affiliate registers and starts selling my three products, will they earn commissions on all of the three products initial payments, and on all of the monthly payments from each of the three products for the seven years total?
To make this question one more step complicated … I’ve added in the second-tier commission option for each of the three products … will this second-tier commission structure work and pay all affiliates for all three products for each of the initial payments and for each of the monthly payments for the entire seven years?
I have provided a link to my commissions explanations page for people below. Can you look over this page and commissions payments to tell me if this will work … and then remove this link below once you have read this post?
Thank you in advance for your help.

January 2, 2013 at 12:14 am #51169adminKeymasterHi Dave, The “Apply recurring commission every time a recurring payment is charged” option is auto built into the program when you are using eStore and the affiliate plugins together.
Enable the following to get the “Apply commission on the first payment of the recurring subscription only” option:
WP eStore Settings -> Addon Settings -> One Time Commission for Subscription Payment
I am going to explain what the “Cookie Life” value does which will answer your question. A referrer will be awarded for a sale if the sale is made before the cookie life expires.
Lets say, your “Cookie Life” is set to 30 days, then any sales from that customer after 30 days doesn’t quality for affiliate commission.
So if you are offering the 2nd product 12 months from now. This doesn’t mean that the original affiliate will still get the commission if the cookie life is less than 12 months.
January 2, 2013 at 5:25 am #51170masmoolaMemberI guess I have quite a big dilemma. As you can probably tell, I’ve put weeks of hard work into this one project with videos and planning, and this product can only work based on commissions being earned by the same affiliate from not only the initial payment, but also on each monthly payments of all three products no matter when the next two products are launched.
Since you have seen my elaborate three-step, two-tier commission payout process with the three products being introduced in 12-month intervals, is there any way of building into, or coding into the plugins so that when someone signs up under an affiliate, the affiliate will earn the referral commission from the same person any time I launch a new product even if each new product is launched 24 months later?
Please let me know what I can do, or if there is any way you can do some programming for me if needed. This seems like it should be an easy fix with coding.
With the current settings, does an affiliate earn commissions on the initial payment and also on the monthly payments on one product?
If the commissions are issued based only on the cookie, and we know that cookies won’t last long on computers for many reasons, there will probably need to be some way of programming in the ability to tie in, or lock in each new purchaser with the same affiliate no matter how many new products I launch at any interval. This is like the same scenario as when a sales person has an account with one store where they wholesale products and need to earn continued commissions month after month on all of the new product lines they will offer to the same store or same account.
It would seem like you could program this feature into your plugin and have a check box that allows the affiliate to lock in every person who makes the first purchase from the affiliates cookie, so the affiliate can earn commissions from all new products launched at any time.
I will be more than happy to pay you for this programming, and then you will also have this new feature to offer in your plugin.
I am desperate and hoping to launch this new site in three days. Please, please help.
Thank you,
Dave
January 2, 2013 at 6:18 am #51171jerrycMemberI’m pretty sure you can control two things:
1. How long the affiliate gets commissions, and you can set it for 99 years or something, and
2. That the initial affiliate never get overridden by another affiliate referral.
I’m pretty sure I saw these on the forum. You should be able to search them. They might even be on an admin page.
Good luck.
January 2, 2013 at 11:02 pm #51172adminKeymasterWith the current settings, does an affiliate earn commissions on the initial payment and also on the monthly payments on one product?
Yes, that is always going to happen unless you change the settings and tell it not to (I mentioned this settings in one of my previous posts).
Jerry’s answer is correct if you want to make it so that an affiliate earns commission from all future purchases of a customer for a very very long time.
