Registration after "joining" is it supposed to be automatic?

In reading the blogs and watching the videos, it appears that after “joining” and paying a subscription, that the registration process is supposed to follow. I am fully aware of how to link but it appears that this process is supposed to be inherent and such is not the case in my usage of the app. Can anyone shed some light in this direction? Also if we are merely creating a subscription based site, should we actually be using eStore along with eMember?

You do not “have to” use eStore with eMember. You’d only use eStore on top of eMember, if you want to sell memberships as a product, or because the eStore plugin offers payment methods/models the eMember plugin alone does not offer. eStore also has many useful features that you may find useful for your membership site overall.
