    Hi,

I am using the extra short code [wp_eStore_product_search_with_add_to_cart_button] within my store. All products have a serial number and a unique number my customers are/will be using when searching my store. These unique numbers are #1; #2; #3 etc. However if searching for lets say #2, products named #21; #22; #23 etc also appear in the search result. Unfortunately these unique numbers cannot be changed as my customers will be looking for these numbers. How can I limit the search to display products only tagged with #2 please?

    Thank you for your input.

    Rene

BTW This wp estore plugin is fantastic.

Hi, the search option will never be able to show one exact record match unless the search criteria is more specific. The job of the search feature is to show all the relevant results that match the given keyword and then the user will have to choose the correct one.

If possible then you can do the following:

Add the ‘#’ character at the end of your unique number. So 2 will become “#2#” and 21 will become #21#. This way if someone is searching for #2# then it should only pull up that record only.

Thank you for your reply and your resolution suggestion, much appreciated. Just out of interest, is there no way to include the # character at the beginning and at the end of the search field in the short code or within the page html so the user does not have to include it?

Once again, thank you for your excellent support.

No, there is no way to automatically add that character unfortunately.
