I’ve tried to do something very similar to the demo membership site join-us page where free membership appears just like a product but at zero cost. I have got free membership working by following the example in Wp-eMember but see advantages (like consistent formatting) in using shop features as per the demo. By following the various trick and tips notes I realised I should be able to do what I wanted by having a manual checkout for zero amount purchases. I’ve clicked the box and set up all the details under the product (again as per examples). I also click for no delivery charge even though the product is downloaded. However, it always brings up a PayPal screen (for a zero total)evey time I try buy-now.
I’m probably missing something but don’t know were to look. I’ve searched the forum and found some helpful ideas but nothing that actually solves my problem.
I’m running WordPress 3.4.2. With Thesis Theme 1.8.4 WP eStore Version v6.5.3
WP emember Version v7.8.1 and WP PDF Stamper Version 4.1.7
October 28, 2012 at 3:39 am #50801adminKeymasterIf you have checked the “Enable Fancy Redirection On Checkout” option from eStore settings then uncheck that option.
Next, share the link to the page where I can go and add the item to the cart then hit the checkout button to see the issue.
November 10, 2012 at 12:13 pm #50802carlfrenchSpectatorOK, I started on this and found another error – now fixed – but my initial problem is still there.
“Enable Fancy Redirection On Checkout” was not checked.
However, I followed the other suggestion… I included an add to cart button and if I do that and then hit the checkout button it all works. However, I’m attempting to use a buy-now button and that is where the problems is. It goes to PayPal in that case.
Any further suggestions?
Also, (perhaps this should be another post?) for the case where it does work I see that the order confirmation form asks for data that is again asked for at registration. Is there a way of combining these two? I search for an answer but couldn’t find one.
November 11, 2012 at 4:51 am #50803adminKeymasterBuy Now buttons are different than the add to cart type buttons. Check the following documentation to learn how to create a Buy Now button for manual gateway:

See this post regarding your other question:

November 12, 2012 at 7:50 pm #50804carlfrenchSpectatorThank you.
That’s very useful.
I hadn’t found [wp_eStore_buy_now_for_specific_gateway id=”2″ gateway=”manual”] before.
What I was really looking for was a fancy version of it.
Something like…
[wp_eStore_buy_now_fancy_for_specific_gateway id=1 gateway=”manual”] – if you see what I mean.
Perhaps there is a short code but I haven’t found it and I have had a good look.
The other link was also very useful. Thank you.
November 13, 2012 at 5:03 am #50805adminKeymasterThere is no fancy option for that shortcode yet (its suppose to be used on a landing page where users want the button usually). However, you can use this option to design one yourself around that button:
