I am using WP eMember and WP Affiliate and am just setting up for the first time.
I would like to offer people both a monthly option and a annual option for recurring subscriptions.
Both will have access to the same premium area.
Would I create two different membership levels in WP eMember for this or just two separate PayPal buttons? I guess I am wondering if the membership expiry works off the PayPal subscription expiry or the membership level expiry?
Thanks
If the content protection scheme is the same then you don’t need to create two membership levels. But I would recommend creating two different levels (both having the same protection levels) just to keep it very clean.
This way each payment button will be hooked to a particular membership level and there is no way to get mixed up.
Thank you. And if their subscription runs out after a month or a year and they don’t pay, they will be restricted from the premium content automatically?
And do I have to set the expiry for each membership in eMember or will the end of notice from PayPal via the IPN be enough?
The membership level that is hooked to a subscription button, you can leave the membership level expiry to “No expiry or Until cancelled”.
When the subscription is cancelled, PayPal will notify the plugin and it will deactivate the users account.
For the “Buy” button (no subscription/recurring payment) you should specify a duration in the membership level expiry field.
