Received Paypal notification of payment but no WordPress download link

I have a relatively standard implementation of eStore, selling digital downloads of an eBook. I have sold 16 books successfully with the plugin, always seeing the WordPress email about the download link and then, a little later, the Paypal notification of payment.

I am running WordPress 3.1.4 (upgraded today), and eStore 5.3.8

When I check the Manage Customers selection, I don’t see the sale to this customer. However, everything about the Paypal notification looks normal.

Is there any issue with release 3.1.4 of WordPress with eStore?

This can happen if you do not follow the upgrade instruction properly to upgrade the WP eStore plugin:

Follow the instructions to the point then if you are still having issues please run a test transaction with the debug option enabled which will reveal more details. This post has details on debugging:

My apologies for not being clear. I upgraded the WordPress application from 3.1.3 to 3.1.4 (using auto update). I didn’t upgrade eStore. The suggested link relates to the upgrade of eStore.

I have confirmed with my customer that she didn’t receive a download link and so it appears that the Paypal payment worked fine, but there was no backward link to eStore to trigger recognition of the customer or the email with the downloadable link. I’ll try the debugging next.

It appears I already have debug active. Here is the section of the IPN_Handle log. It finishes at this point:

Just an update. I just noticed another sale that automatically generated the download link. The log for this transaction was tacked onto the end of the previous one pasted above and completed normally for this customer.

The debug should reveal the issue (I just need to read the debug). Can you please post the full debug information from the “ipn_handle_debug.log” file here so I can follow it along and see what it did after the transaction?

Thank you for the debug. It is now safe to say that the plugin is working fine and is sending the email after the payment. The following lines confirm it:
