Hello, I have set up a list in MailChimp and things are working great. When I added the list, I uploaded all data including membership level and state (active/inactive/expired).
Does this integration have the capability to update MailChimp lists when any of this information changes? For example, if a user changes levels or cancels and becomes ‘inactive’ does MailChimp get notified or do I have to update this by reuploading my list every time I am going to send it?
Thanks.
The integration does not have the capability to update the MailChimp list. We are waiting for AWeber to fully release their robust API so background operations on list can be done via an API. From a product point of view we need to give the same set of features for all the supported autoresponders (AWeber, MailChimp and GetResponse).
Its been 2 years since this was posted, has this changed at all?
Not many users showed interest for this actually.
What Are Some of the Things We Consider When Adding a Feature
I am still keen to create an addon maybe to do something like the following:
When a member account goes inactive or expired, it will un-subscribe the user from MailChimp.
I think that would be handy.
We are using Mailchimp to handle all Member specific emails but there still remains a manual element to it. As it is, inactive/cancelled members still receive ‘member specific’ emails until we’ve purged them from the Mailchimp list. A little tedious.
Hope to see an add on in the future, that would be awesome!
Looks like the API wants the email address (that will be unsubscribed from the list). Now, what happens if the member has changed the email address by editing his profile?
Good point. I’m assuming they can’t be kept in sync? ie on updating your email in your profile edit, the plugin sends details to Mailchimp.
AutoChimp plugin does this very well for BuddyPress/WordPress users – could this be extended to integrate with eMember?
