Even with the levels set correctly, I get:
Content is restricted.
I am confused on the setup.
I have certain pages under general protection, that works fine. If I am not logged in the correct level, it prompts to login or join.
If I login with my silver level, it gets:
Content is restricted.
Please help.
February 26, 2010 at 1:03 am #18397amin007ParticipantYou have protected the posts, pages, categories from the “General Protection”, which is good but have you given access to the “Silver” membership level so they can view the content? I had a quick look and it looked like “Silver” membership do not have access to the “restricted” page. which is why it is showing “Content is restricted”.
I have tried to explain the protection thing at this URL:
Let me know if it makes sense.
March 3, 2010 at 9:18 pm #18398treseroMemberThis is still not working. I think you have some kind of conflict or else your help descriptions are misleading.
I want to use PAGES, so I have the plugin general protect the pages I want (which BTW is a royal pain, but I don’t want to use posts). I then go to silver and check the pages I want to allow access to. That should work, it doesn’t. I get the same
Content is restricted.
This shouldn’t be so difficult
March 23, 2010 at 12:17 pm #18399tarkaMemberStrangely I am getting the same problem. I want to restrict certain pages so in the general protection I have protected pages A and B. Then under my free membership I have allowed access to page A and under full membership I have allowed access to A and B. However no matter who I log in as I am getting a message saying ‘Content is restricted.’??? Could this be related to the bug discussed here:
Any help would be much appreciated.
March 24, 2010 at 12:41 am #18400amin007ParticipantAre this wordpress post or wordpress pages? A common mistake that the users make is protect the category that the post belongs to so even though you are playing around with the individual protection of the posts it’s not taking effect as the category this post belongs to is protected.
Is this happening in your case by any chance?
May 2, 2010 at 4:48 am #18401kdelaplaMemberI’m having exactly the same issue on my site. I have only one membership level which I called “Premium”. All my content I want to protect is pages, not posts. I select all the pages I want to protect in the General tab, and then select all the same pages in the “Premium” tab to grant access. But when I login as a user with “Premium” access I get “Content is restricted”.
Help!
May 2, 2010 at 5:00 am #18402amin007ParticipantWhen you created the “Premium” membership level from the “Manage Levels” menu did you give access to “pages”?
May 2, 2010 at 7:32 am #18403kdelaplaMemberOkay, I just enabled access to pages on the “Add/Edit Membership Level” page, and it seems to have solved the problem.
FYI, I do think the text instructions are potentially misleading. It says in the “Granted Access to” tab that “You can globally turn on or off access to content (eg. all posts, pages, comments) for this membership level here. More customized content protection (eg. access to certain posts or pages) can be done via the Manage Content Protection menu”.
I read this as saying that if I wanted to give access to ALL pages I could set that option here, but if I wanted to give access to only a subset of pages I should use the Manage Content Protection menu. I didn’t read this as implying that I could only give access to a subset of pages if I first gave access to all of them.
But thanks very much for the reply! I’m thrilled with your plugin so far!
