I am using eMember to restrict access to BBPress forums on my site. I’ve noticed, however, that even after I am logged in the forum topics are not listed (or rather, it states that there are not topics) for some of the forums even when I am logged in as a member that has permission to view the forum. I finally realized, however, that if I switched my “Primary” membership to the membership that was given permission to view the forum, I could see all the topics. Is there a way to allow access to a forum for a certain membership regardless of whether a user has it listed as her primary or secondary membership?
eMember Version v8.8.8
bbPress Version 2.5.4
Do you have that forum topic accissible for all the secondary levels?
I’m not sure I understand your question. On the BBPress “Edit Forum” page I have two eMemberships selected in the “eMember Protections Options” section. I have 11 Membership options total, but only users who have either the “Community” or “Admin” memberships should be able to view this Forum. Some of my users may be “Community” members but may hold other memberships and may not have “Community” as their primary membership. I want them to be able to access the forum regardless of if they have “Community” as their primary or secondary membership.
Is there a setting to allow for this type of secondary membership access?
What I am saying is that when you protect a “Forum” or an individual “Forum Topic”, you select levels that will have access to that forum or the topic. When users log into the site that has the specified level in their primary or secondary level, they will have access to that forum or the topic. It doesn’t rely on the primary level only. So it should already work the way you are wanting it to work. What version of eMember are you using?
Update on this. I just updated WordPress and several other plugins (not eMember) and that seemed to fix the problem. Sorry I should have done that before posting!
Running eMember 8.9.7.
