I’m building a membership site that contains monthly, paid content and am concerned about protecting past content from those who join in rhe future and have not paid for those past months. (For example. someone who joins in November would be able to download content from now through November. It’s not really fair to those members who have paid for those months.)

I’ve studied the auto-upgrade feature, but I am not sure it would work, and would like to avoid creating a member level for each month going forward. I know I can time-limit download links, but this won’t keep them out of the past content.

Is there a way I can keep someone from joining, downloading the whole archive, and then canceling?

    Thanks!

Hello Gary, can you read the following URL to understand the protection methods available in the plugin.

Overview of the Available Content Protection Methods

Once you read the above can you then read the following URL

How to Manage Content Protection in WP eMember

Pay attention to the last paragraph

The easiest way to manage content protection is through the protection of “Categories”. It allows you to give access to all the posts or pages under a certain category without having to individually select each post or page. So for example, you can create a category called “Basic” and put all the posts and pages under this category that you want to give access to for the “Basic” Membership level.

Let us know if that helps you.

    Kind regards

Thanks for the reply. I’lll re-read the referenced posts and see if they shed some light on what I’m trying to do, which may not be possible, I admin. I’ll post my results.
