On my membership page I also offer free downloads. The page itself is protected. But the download URL can be shared by the member because it is visible.

    How can I prevent this?

I have an eStore licence but the installation makes no sense for 5 downloads … That’s the problem.

I also studied the forum and http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-membership/how-to-configure-a-members-only-download-page-70.

You want to use the third option. Install eStore, and create 5 products. Then, place 5 “Download Now” buttons on your page. This will cause your downloads to occur, via eStore’s encrypted URL mechanism.

Why is that a problem? Encrypted download links are only available through eStore. Installing it does not impact your site in any way; when nobody is using the “Download Now” buttons.

Thank you! I also had a look at that page http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-membership/how-to-configure-a-members-only-download-page-70. I didn’t see it before. I used the eMember media uploader.

But when I try to download the file I cannot login with my member login and password. I suppose it has sth. to do with the htpasswd and htaccess. It is not the same login form as in your demo.

(Have a screenshot, where can I upload it?)

I would like to have the eStore function here to encrypt download links. But maybe I have to activate eStore.

Hi, If you are going to use eStore’s download system then you don’t need to use the emember’s one.

Simply do what the 3rd option in the following page tell you to:
