We had a problem with adding a price variation that reduced the price of an item and the use of coupon codes wherein the backend process was interrupted and the debug showed an failure: wrong product price detected. This was apparently because we were discounting the item and then trying to add a coupon code as well.
Now we want to be able to add to the price of an item. Specifically, if a customer purchases certain products, they can buy a specific product at a lower price. Example: If they want to buy a printed syllabus, it’s $575. But if they buy one of three qualifying products, the printed syllabus is only $175. Ideally, I’d love a way for the discount to be automatic if the proper product combinations are selected. The quickest and easiest way for me to do it would be to add a variation to each of the qualifying products to add the printed syllabus at the lower price, but I’m worried about this conflict causing the error again if they also use a coupon code (we issue coupon codes for return customers and the coupon code would be for a specific amount because the syllabus isn’t eligible). When the conflict occurred, the transaction went through but the notification emails never got sent. So my question is: Can I add a variation to a product that increases its price, but won’t conflict with any coupon codes that are specific to that product ID?

Although, if you want to try it; the referrenced discussion provides a way to override the price checking.January 15, 2021 at 4:10 pm #82310Rob BetzSpectatorThis wouldn’t be a negative price variation (that was our problem last time). This will be a positive variation on the price. I just need to know it won’t interfere with the coupon code usage. Thanks
