Hi When anyone goes through our affiliates the sale is only recorded if they click return to site after they pay by paypal. Is this normal as not everyone chooses to return to site and therefore affiliates are losing out.
There are a range of 3rd party integration options available in the Affiliate plugin. If you can tell me which one you are using then I should be able to give you more info.
WP eStore awards the commission using IPN (which means the commission is warded as soon as someone hits the “Pay” button on PayPal). Not every solution use the IPN method of PayPal so for those it awards the commission on the “Thank You” page after a payment (This is how any affiliate software awards commission). You only want to award the commission after a confirmed payment.
We are using wp ecommerce plugin with wp ecommerce affiliate intragation plug in.
Thanks
Yeah for WP eCommerce the commission is awarded when the customer returns to the site after a payment.
Three options for you:
1) Use PayPal’s PDT (payment data transfer) feature to redirect the customer automatically to the Thank You page from PayPal.
2) Instruct the customer to come back to the “Thank You” page after the payment.
3) Award the commission when the customer goes to PayPal (this option is not recommended as you can loose out if the customer doesn’t actually pay).
