problem with collecting customer input

Hi, I have a website where I’ve added the option to collect customer input because I sell personalized items. When I get the notification of a sale emailed to me, the text from the collect customer input is sometimes cut off so I cannot read everything they typed in that box. Is there a limit of how many characters they can type- how do I check this or change it so it can be longer. Thanks for your help!
