Is it possible to let the purchaser preview the item he is purchasing? We sell editorial content and I would like the buyer to be able to view the first 2 or three paragraphs of the document to make sure it is what he wants to buy.

Yes, you can create a preview page and add it as a link to the product field “Thumbnail Target URL”

When the user clicks the thumbnail, they will be taken to your preview. To be clear, you can create your thumbnail and make sure it says “Click for Preview”.

Or, you can create a “digital variation” where the downloadable content is an extension and the base component is the preview content. Unfortunately it’s really hard to get that to work since e.g. PayPal won’t let you create a $0.00 sale – and your users may expect an instant ability to preview.

You could also create your preview content as a separate file (maybe a PDF file). Then add a link to this PDF file on your landing page for the product in question. Here is an example of how we are giving a preview of the eBook on the landing page:

You could also add the link to this preview content in the description section of the product. You are allowed to add HTML content in eStore’s product description area.
