I have created a new gallery and uploaded around 500 images, each picture size is about 400kb, then I click insert into gallery and click save gallery. This is where it takes a while before it gives me a 504 timeout error. When I go back to the gallery to try and reinsert the images, at least 80% of the images are not showing in the media library.
Please help asap
The 504 timeout error is something you might need to talk to your hosting provider about because it appears that your server might not be waiting long enough for the operation to complete.
A possible workaround is to do the uploading of the images and saving of your gallery in batches.
Try uploading say 50 images* and then saving the gallery. Then repeat this until your have saved all of your photos in that gallery.
* I chose the number 50 as an example and this value might be more or less depending on whether your server can handle it – you have to try it yourself.
