The thumbnail jpg photos posted on my website show up fine on some browsers but are squished to 14×125 px on others. Why? What can I do?
June 22, 2010 at 2:08 am #21942wpCommerceModeratorYou can check the “Enable Smart Thumbnail Option” under WP eStore General settings and see how it goes.
Also, please post a link to the page so we can see how it actually looks.
June 22, 2010 at 3:47 am #21943ray burciagaMemberThank You but we tried that. This is the link [http://wickedcorals.com/]
however it show up fine on some computers but not others. Think it has something to do with the graphic card or the browser. Thanks for the help. We have spent many hours with no luck.
June 22, 2010 at 4:03 am #21944IvyMemberHi Ray, I had a look at your site on All three major browsers (FireFox, IE8, and Chrome). There appeared to be no issue. Do you know which browser was giving you the issue?
June 22, 2010 at 5:31 pm #21945ray burciagaMemberHi Ivy Thanks for looking. I think it has more to do with the individual graphic cards rather than the browsers. In our shop we have several computers and they all use he same browser and the older of them only sees the squished version of the thumbnails in the e store pages. Thew same goes various friends. All can see the same exact thumbnail on our POSTS but no in the e-store. It has to be something in the way we loaded them in the e store. Again thanks.
June 23, 2010 at 1:40 am #21946ray burciagaMemberTo clarify further, the photos on the home page show up fine — it is the photos on the other pages, which are linked to the e-store, which show up squished. For example, on the Clams page. THanks again.
June 24, 2010 at 12:59 am #21947ray burciagaMemberHi all:
I think I found what the problem is. My theme is Genesis Amped Child. If I use the WordPress default theme, the photos show up fine. Another Genesis theme didn’t work for me either. Apparently there is some coding in the Genesis themes which squishes the photos — perhaps in the min-pixel coding. I’d like to keep the Genesis Amped Child theme – does anyone know what the fix might be? Thank you so much!
June 24, 2010 at 1:38 am #21948amin007ParticipantMany themes are not properly coded… see this article to learn more:
When Themes Go Wild – Importance of Using a Properly Coded WordPress Theme
The main problem is I can’t even see the problem in my browser (It’s hard to track down issues that you can’t reproduce).
February 7, 2011 at 4:06 am #21949TenderspiritMemberIvy could you see if you can find the problem with mine, I am having the same thing happen on a blog, the pictures are tall and thin, the theme I am using is Catalyst, not sure if it happened when I upgraded to wp 3.4 or went from Frugal to Catalyst. grrr I clicked on the box to make magic but no magic happened. LOL I know the same thing happened to my nextgen gallery pictures too when I made the switch, so am thinking it is more a theme issue than your plug. But if you could take a quick peek would appreciate it. [http://seasonsofspirit.com/online-store/] thanks, love the plug in and it’s ease of use. I know I used one of your new codes to just have the picture and the price and that one the picture worked great, but the writing for the price was light grey and did not show up on the page very well, can’t remember which code that was i will go find it, and post it on that page too so you can see it. Is there a way to change the color of the text on the listings? I am not great at being a techie but think I can follow simple directions on editing in dreamweaver or wordpad. Hugs Tenderspirit
February 8, 2011 at 3:41 am #21950amin007ParticipantThe photos don’t look squashed anymore. I am guessing you have figured it out?
April 9, 2011 at 6:23 pm #21951lorabMemberI’m having the same mushed photo issues. I’d prefer not to have an image but when I added one, it did the same thing.
The first two have no image connected to them, the third does.
Any ideas?
April 10, 2011 at 12:16 am #21952amin007ParticipantYour photo is not squashed. Its not a square photo so its taking a square section of the photo and using that as a thumbnail. You do understand that you can’t fully show every pixel of a 200×300 size photo in a 125×125 size area right?
April 10, 2011 at 9:13 am #21953lorabMemberYes, I do know that I can’t fully show every pixel of a larger photo in a smaller area. But I’m a little surprised I do because I am at a very basic level. However you may be seeing something different than I am. I took a screenshot but not sure how to get it to you so I uploaded it to my site and pasted the URL.

Thanks for your help. Again, is there a way to create the fancy option without a graphic?
April 11, 2011 at 12:48 am #21954amin007ParticipantYes, there is a shortcode to show the product with fancy display without a graphic. Use the following shortcode:
[wp_eStore_fancy1_no_thumbnail id=1]
You will need the extra eStore shortcode plugin for this. You can find this plugin here:
http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/ecommerce/wp-estore-shortcodes-and-functions-reference-460
The screenshot you took doesn’t cover the 3rd product which is the one with the thumbnail.
April 11, 2011 at 10:19 pm #21955lorabMemberThanks!
