1st issue: I selected the option to auto rotate the images, but they do not auto rotate correctly.
Main issue:
So after manually editing all the photos in the gallery and using the “Edit photo” function and clicking the rotating button (and saving), the gallery thumbnails and gallery images are not rotated correctly. There are even mismatches between the photo thumbnails in the gallery, and the water-marked photos in the preview.
I have also tried regenerating all the thumbnails, that didn’t improve the situation either.
When you edit the photo in WordPress, it is using wordpress’s functionality to do the rotating but if the photo is missing certain meta information, it may fail to do it correctly. That operation is very dependant on the particular photo files you have. So this rotating is something better done in your computer in my opinion (before uploading the photos). In your computer you can easily rotate the photos and save the way you want then upload it.
