I have customers trying to use their phone to click on links within Facebook. They are able to visit my site and view everything as normal, but when they try to add items to their cart, nothing is added.
I have duplicated the issue on iPhone and Android with the Facebook app and Facebook Messenger app. Both seem to have a built in browser maybe.
How to duplicate: I post a link to [www.patrickpowersphotography.com/conformation/gallery21/]
Using either phone I open the Facebook or Facebook Messenger app and click of the link. I am routed to the page as expected. I select any image and select “add to cart”. No items in cart is displayed.
Would you happen to have a way of fixing this issue? I am currently telling all customers to visit links from their phones default browser or a pc.September 12, 2016 at 2:39 am #74110
I don’t use the facebook chat app so I’m not really familiar with it and therefore I can’t comment on it.
What happens when someone clicks on your gallery link from your facebook page using their computer and not that app?
The gallery and cart should work as normal irrespective of where the user originally clicked from.September 12, 2016 at 11:49 am #74111
On a computer it opens the default browser and proceeds like normal. Using the Facebook app or the Facebook message app, neither will allow anything to be displayed on the cart page. I use Facebook a lot to drive business to my site as I imagine lots of others do as well.
To duplicate: create a post to [www.patrickpowersphotography.com/conformation/gallery21] , open the post from your phone using the Facebook app and try to add the test image to the cart.September 12, 2016 at 11:45 pm #74112
I also tried the same steps using your demo site (ruling out a problem with my site) and the results are the same.
When you click add to cart and it takes you to the cart page, the cart is empty. This is the same result with the Facebook app and the Facebook Messenger app.September 13, 2016 at 12:06 pm #74113
Does this FB app have its own browser? I wonder if that might be the issue?
Does this issue occur for other wordpress shopping cart types?
For example, if you search for “woocommerce demo” using google, can you try the same test using your FB app by trying to add products using that demo?September 13, 2016 at 12:39 pm #74114
I tried the same scenario with a woocommerce demo and it works as expected. The item is added to the cart and checkout proceeds like normal.
As far as the app. It’s the Facebook app from the apple App Store and android play store.September 13, 2016 at 1:31 pm #74115
I installed that FB app on my phone and tried a quick test using my photo seller test site and everything worked fine.
Can you try the same test using my test site gallery?

I tried using your site also and the result is the same as with my site and the photo seller demo site. Are you using the Facebook app to open the link from a post? This is what I get from within the app:

Are you using the Facebook app to open the link from a post?
What do you mean by post?
All I did was when I logged into the app I went to the FB timeline and clicked on a test link I posted which was referring to my photo test site. Once I was redirected to my photo site I successfully added an item to the cart and proceeded to checkout.
What is the link to your FB page which contains the link to your gallery?September 14, 2016 at 1:24 am #74118
I tried all three sites on a Samsung Note 5 and they all work correctly.
All iphone devices (5, 6, 6plus) that I have tried fail to add any items to the cart with the photo seller plugin, but the woocommerce demo site works as expected.
So it has to be an iOS and photo seller plugin issue. What steps can we take from here?September 14, 2016 at 3:30 am #74119
Is the result the same for iOS laptops and computers or is it just mobile devices?September 14, 2016 at 11:43 am #74120
It’s only mobile devices. My iMac and MacBook work correctly, but they also don’t have a Facebook app.September 18, 2016 at 1:28 am #74121
I think the issue with the iOS and FB app browser is that the cookies (or third party cookies) are either being blocked or disabled.
Our cart requires that cookies work and hence this is why I think it is not working for that case.
Can you check your cookie settings in your browser and “allow” all cookies to see if that fixes it?
I will try and put a check in our code to display an error message if cookies are not working.July 21, 2017 at 11:58 am #74122BrynMember
