Can you create a custom gallery template? I have a customer that wants to put custom text on the gallery pages that says click to enlarge image and then other custom text on the photo details page. Please let me know if it would be possible to create a custom gallery page that I could add text to.
January 15, 2014 at 11:48 am #60324PeterMemberCurrently the templates offered in the plugin are the only available options you have.
Having said that, if people request certain templates and we think they would be a good addition to the plugin we could possibly add them.
Could you provide more details about exactly how you would like the template and the photo details page to look?
January 16, 2014 at 1:55 am #60325jungerMemberWell my customer would like to keep the template the way it is but wants to change the wording around on the templates. For example on the photo details template where it says “Please Choose From The Selections Below” and then on the thumbnails he wants to be able to have text on every gallery page at the top that says “Click on a picture to view it in a larger size”. Will you let me know if there is an easy way to do this that I have missed. I see that I can add text to the top of each page manually but that would have to be done after each gallery page is created.
Thanks for your response.
January 16, 2014 at 3:45 am #60326PeterMemberOk I understand what you’re asking.
Currently the “Please Choose From The Selections Below” wording in the photo details page is not configurable. We will have a think about how we can improve this.
However regarding the gallery thumbnail page there is a relatively easy workaround. Simply edit the page which contains the shortcode for that gallery (eg: [WPS_photo_gallery id=”1″]).
Just before the shortcode you can add the message “Click on a picture to view it in a larger size”.
Then all people viewing the gallery thumbnail page will see that message first.

June 14, 2014 at 9:57 am #60328RoosMemberYou say: “Currently the “Please Choose From The Selections Below” wording in the photo details page is not configurable. We will have a think about how we can improve this.” why not? Can’t we go into the php to change it somewhere? Should be do-able, but I can’t find the div-wps-photo-description, Where is it located??
June 14, 2014 at 10:22 am #60329RoosMemberOK FOUND IT: wp-content/plugins/wp-photo-seller/views/photo/photo-details-template.php

Yeah sure you can change the wording by editing the PHP file, but if you ever update this plugin to a newer version in future you will need to remember to change the same file again.
December 30, 2014 at 3:23 am #60331wreedMemberHave you guys thought about adding a way to “override” the template layout? WooCommerce lets you put a woocommerce folder in your theme folder and whatever you do there will override the core templates and will not be affected by a plugin update. I really want the ability to add my own template but I don’t want to start creating it and have the template update over-write it. My want is to have the photo details page to have the content to the right of the image and not below it. Also is there anyway to change the thumbnail image?
December 31, 2014 at 3:38 am #60332adminKeymasterI would prefer to do it using filters. Are you okay with using filters?
Also, you can edit the “Photo Details” page and select a different page template from the available page templates you have in your theme. Or you can add a new page template to your theme that is wider (so it can go side by side).
Once you have a wide page template, you should be able to apply CSS tweaks to change things around a little.
January 4, 2015 at 1:22 pm #60333wreedMemberWould you suggest that I make my own template but call it like template-99 so an update to the plugin would not override my template folder? I’d like to have bigger thumbnail images and also have the photo details page be side by side, where the image has the text to the right of it.
January 4, 2015 at 11:33 pm #60334PeterMemberHi,
The photo details page and also the gallery pages are all displayed according to a specific shortcode – ie, underneath the hood there is php, html and CSS code which is run to produce the content.
From what I’ve understood, it sounds like you would like to change the content which is produced from the shortcodes. If that is the case, this might be a little tricky to do due to the fact the you will need to modify various pieces of code.
I’d like to have bigger thumbnail images and also have the photo details page be side by side, where the image has the text to the right of it.
If you could give us detailed specs (or pictorial examples) of the exact layout you are after, we can look into adding a new template for you.
January 7, 2015 at 4:24 am #60335wreedMemberHow do I go about getting you screenshots? I have photoshop mocks that show what I am looking for.
January 8, 2015 at 1:52 am #60336PeterMemberUse to the contact form to send an initial email and when you get a reply you can attach your screenshots.
