Hi,
I’m just testing the Facebook Like and Facebook Share functions on my site [http://picturesbycornelia.com/] and have encountered some quirks. I’d be grateful if you could look into these, please:
Facebook Like:
1. When you click ‘Like’ on a photo detail page, only part of the box appears. (i.e. you can’t add a comment, and the box looks broken). I can email a screenshot to explain what I mean if that helps?
2. When I follow the link from Facebook, it goes to the generic URL [http://picturesbycornelia.com/photogallery/] photo_details rather than the specific photo page. So rather than seeing my photo, users get the message “This page is for displaying the details of a selected photo. Please click on a photo from one of the galleries to see the details.”
Facebook Share:
3. Whilst the link is correct (it goes to the photo details page, where the photo does indeed appear), the thumbnail image is incorrect. It seems to be pulling images from the Home page, rather than from the photo details page.
The Facebook features are so buggy that they’re unusable… if there’s no way to fix them, I’ll disable them. (Which would be a shame.)

July 18, 2014 at 2:52 am #64421PeterMemberOk I’ve done some troubleshooting on the facebook stuff and the following is what I found:
1. When you click ‘Like’ on a photo detail page, only part of the box appears. (i.e. you can’t add a comment, and the box looks broken). I can email a screenshot to explain what I mean if that helps?
I have added some CSS code in our plugin which will fix this. Apparently this appears to be a common fault for the FB like popout and something which other people have complained to FB about.
2. When I follow the link from Facebook, it goes to the generic URL
This problem was related to the fact that your photo details page had the “rel_canonical” info displayed in the header of that page.
We usually remove this so that the FB stuff works correctly but in your case the Yoast plugin was adding it. I fixed this by modifying our code so that the removal happens later in the loading stage.
Your last point is related to FB sharing.
I just learned that FB have recently changed the way the API works for “sharing” which has in turn broken our functionality for this part. Until I figure out another solution, I will temporarily take away the “sharing” button.
July 18, 2014 at 3:41 am #64422corners74MemberThank you very much for looking into that. How do I access the updated plugin, please?
July 18, 2014 at 5:24 am #64423PeterMemberSomeone from the team will send you a copy.
July 25, 2014 at 12:25 am #64424brenda.brendaMemberMy facebook like is still not working properly and the share button also appears.
Can I have a link to a download where the code has been fixed?
Thank you!

April 26, 2015 at 3:49 am #64427DobMemberMy problems seem to fit under this post:
I really want to be able to add social media buttons that will just share the chosen image in the gallery without superfluous text. I tried the usual plugins but they either show nothing, display a blank space or a sidebar image and wording as below even though I’ve configured price lists.
Even if I copy the page address:
this is the text that displays next to a choice of sidebar images.
“Photo Details Add comments « » Photo Details [WPS_photo_details] To buy this photo choose from the selections below: There are currently no configured digital or physical variations for this gallery. The administrator needs to configure some variations for the price list associated with this…
DOBLOG.ARTFULDOBSON.COM”
I’m using a static wordpress page showing images that link to the galleries and there is a redirect from [www.artfuldobson.com]. I also used your customm CSS code from other help posts to enlarge thumbnails and currently have removed your FB Like buttons from galleries whilst I was experimenting.
Any help, comments etc would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Peter
June 7, 2016 at 12:48 pm #64428RybirdMember1 year ago, no answer? My issue is when I use any type of sharing button, such as addtoany, it just shares the details page, not the generated url. My site is dead in the water because the sitemaps can’t crawl the photo pages and no one can share the pages. I have gotten only ONE view the last two days and never more than 10 in a day and I have 160 artworks.
What I need is a static page for every artwork “photo” in my gallery. I don’t know much about wordpress or code, but seems this dynamic creation of all the photo pages from one photo details page is not going to work at all. I say at all cause none of the art key words or descriptions show up and even though I have done every conceivable SEO, no one will every see the work. Not unless I give them a direct link. No sharing and no show in searches, none of this is acceptable. I need it fixed or some kind of remedy.
June 8, 2016 at 12:34 am #64429PeterMemberWhich version of the plugin do you have?
There was an update to the code a few months ago which fixed the FB like feature.
(NOTE: It is not unusual for FB to change the way their api works without notice and as such I hope you can appreciate that on occasions this will affect plugins like ours which use their api.)
June 8, 2016 at 8:37 am #64430RybirdMemberHello
I have Version: 2.1.0
But when using addtoany or any other sharing button plugins, it just shares the template page Photo Details and not the actual dynamic page I am sharing from. I am not on facebook, so I cant test that one social site, but on twitter it sends them the template without the image. like this Art Details [https://artistrybird.com/store/photo_details]
I have a screenshot, but dont’ see anywhere to upload it? But the screen shot shows a twitter sharing box with this in it.” Art Details [https://artistrybird.com/store/photo_details] “
June 9, 2016 at 4:40 am #64431PeterMemberHi,
I just tested by tweeting one of the my test site photo pages and it works fine.
How are you tweeting the link? What does the link to your photo page page look like before you tweet it?
Regarding “addtoany” I’ve never used this before and therefore don’t know enough about it to comment.
June 9, 2016 at 9:18 pm #64432RybirdMemberThank you, All is fine then. It must be the addtoany, which is a popular sharing plugin like add this or share it or share this. For some reason they don’t pick up the image url but rather the template page, I will check with them, I appreciate your help and my site seems to be working like a charm.
October 6, 2017 at 4:43 am #64433bwpage3MemberI just installed the photo seller program today which works very nice. Using template 9, the photo will open up in the lightbox. Clicking add to cart will open up the Photo detail page. Underneath that photo is a facebook button like with a thumbs up. When you click the button, it change to Like with a checkmark. This button does not appear to be connected to anything and other than switch states as described, it doesn’t seem to do anything with Facebook.
