I have an issue with seller emails getting blocked by Gmail, Yahoo, and other servers.
When I test and use live transactions, if the seller email is within the same domain/hosting group, I get the purchase email with the link without issues.
When I use live transactions, the seller emails never show up. I have checked the logs and it says the email is being sent successfully, but they just disappear. They are not in the spam box so I think they are getting bounced and flagged as spam.
I have WP SMTP plugin set up, the From email is a real live email (not a forwarder), I have matched all the emails (admin, WP SMTP plugin, Photo Seller), and cannot figure out how to get this email past the spam filters. I also checked the forum and had the proper “checkboxes” in the plugin.
The only plugin customizations I have made are changes to the Thank you message (after a paypal sale) and hardcoding the number 1 into the photo details page.

July 2, 2014 at 5:00 am #64078PeterMemberHi,
….just to add to wzp’s note…..
I’ve just tried a test purchase and have confirmed what you are seeing – ie, although the logs say that the plugin sent the “buyer” email, I never received it.
Have you also gone through the following useful troubleshooting page to see if you can find the reason for the issue?
July 2, 2014 at 12:37 pm #64079bsquaredMemberHi wzp and Peter,
First, thank you for your quick response.
I believe the answer to wzp’s question is yes. The email I am sending from is in the same domain. I have made sure all the emails throughout WP are the same: admin email, WP-SMTP From email, Photo Seller From email. I have also tried sending a test message from the WP-SMTP to a Gmail address and it comes through.
On a whim this AM I tried removing all links from the email and the purchase emails were delivered to Gmail. I put one of the links back, and no email. So it seems that the link is what is triggering the block. I will follow up with Bluehost and put in a support ticket with them.
Thank you for your help.
July 2, 2014 at 1:28 pm #64080wzpModeratorI would be very interested in knowing:
- If it’s only a particular link that is causing the problem.
- If the presence of ANY link that’s causing the problem.
- What “is it” about the link(s) that cause the problem.
- If a regular encrypted link, or a shortened link that’s causing the problem.
- If you manually sent an email with one of the blocked links, does it get through or not.
- If you could please post one of the “offending links.”
July 2, 2014 at 6:00 pm #64081bsquaredMemberOk, here’s what I have found out:
I can have a link in the body of the email template, as long as it is neither the download link nor the receipt link. The plugin sends the link to Gmail without issues.
Gmail is able to send the email with links no problem.
From either Mail or Outlook, if I try to send the Thank You email with both links, the email never makes it. I have tried it from two different hosting/domain accounts independent of each other but they both use Bluehost. So Bluehost is def. blocking it. I haven’t had a chance to submit a ticket with them but I will go ahead and do it now.

July 7, 2014 at 1:14 am #64082bsquaredMemberSo after checking with Bluehost, they claimed that nothing was getting blocked per the logs. However, after coming back from the long weekend, the emails are now being delivered. So who knows what was going on! Thanks again for the help!
