Photo details image on Facebook Share button

I had posted this as an “add-on” to a relevant thread but thought it might be better to make it a separate topic:

I want to be able to add social media buttons that will just “Share” the chosen image on the Photo details page with just title and caption. I tried the usual plugins but they either show nothing, display a blank space or a sidebar image with wording as below even though I’ve configured price lists.

Even if I copy the page address and post in Facebook, for example:

this is the text that displays on Facebook next to a choice of sidebar images.

I’m using a static wordpress page showing images that link to the galleries. I also used your customm CSS code from other help posts to enlarge thumbnails and currently have removed your FB Like buttons from galleries whilst I was experimenting – I need a “Share” button.

Any help, comments, advice etc would be much appreciated.

The facebook share functionality is currently not available because FB changed the way their api works and a result broke our code which used to make it possible to share a photo using the photo details page.

To cut a long story short, the current behaviour of the FB API as far as “share” functionality goes, ignores or makes it impossible to pass URL query parameters to it and consequently you won’t be able to share a photo using the photo details page because that page has content which is dynamically generated and is reliant on the query parameters in the URL.

I’m Having the same problem, the link that we share on facebook goes to a empty page. Like that we can not share the photos. how can i resolve this? [www.1001eventos.pt/fotos]

You can’t. It’s their service, and hence, they make the rules; about what is or is not going to work. But in all fairness to FB; they are probably concerned about exploits that use rogue URL queries.
