Photo Details image not sharp.

I provide all images for my website as Maximum Resolution, 300dpi, jpegs. The 4 images on my Homepage slide show are tack sharp. The same images on the Photo Details page are not sharp using Template #5 at 800 px. Should I make the Detail page images smaller to improve there sharpness? Or is there something else I can do? Template 5 is the only template I like because it retains the original image ration, and it is a large enough size for gallery viewing.

Yeah sure try a smaller size and see how it looks. If you are using an watermark, the plugin will need to re-create the image with the watermark. Which can make the preview image to lose some quality.
