Tips and Tricks HQ Support Portal › Forums › WP Affiliate Platform › Phantom affiliate created, real affiliate clicks going to phantom affiliate
Hello,
This is a very bizarre problem.
I have a user nameed, say, WillHolt.
WillHolt has an affiliate link and put his redirect in a domain.
When I look at the affiliate lists, I have
WillHolt
as an affiliate, with 1 clickthru.
However, if I look at the stats, I see a non-existent affiliate:
WillHol
and all of the domain clickthrus are credited to this affiliate.
Which doesn’t exist.
So…..
WillHolt has 1 clickthru
WillHol has 13 clickthrus
Help?
Thanks,
Barbara
Hi Barbara, It is not possible for real affiliate clicks to be credited to phantom affiliates.
I am pretty sure you made typo when creating the affiliate link. check all your links to make sure you didn’t miss out the “t” in the link.
You can also search for an affiliate with the name “WillHol” in the admin panel and see if it exists. If it doesn’t then it proves the theory.
Remember, you don’t have to create an affiliate account to be able to refer traffic. The plugin will track the clicks whenever it sees a link with “ap_id” appended to it. This allows people using Google Adwords to measure sales conversion without actually creating affiliate accounts for each campaign.
I just thought of that this morning and have sent off email to the affiliate to verify. What you say above makes sense – will keep you posted.
UPDATE – you are 103% correct! I just fixed it for the affiliate and things are fine. Thanks!
