Hi. I am concerned that the sheet music pdfs that I will sell should not be visible to all and sundry. I have read the “Adding Extra Protection’ page as above but don’t understand what to do now. How, for instance, do I specify a directory that my uploaded pdfs go into as they all seem to land in one big muddled mess along with all of my other uploads (images etc.)? I am a newbie, but do have FileZilla so I know I can create a folder – but will wordpress look at that new folder? Your help very much appreciated! Thank you.

In the root directory of your server, create a “src” directory. Then, use Filezilla to upload the PDF files to the “src” directory. Don’t forget to use the binary transfer mode.
You can also do it via cPanel too.
Once you upload a file to your server, you can use the URL of that file with the stamper plugin.

March 30, 2014 at 1:07 pm #61818lisaportusMemberHi. Thanks for the replies. I have tried what you suggested and it didn’t work. This is the error I get when I try to access the paid for file: WooCommerce and PDF Stamper integration – An error occured while trying to stamp the PDF file! Error details: Message: Cannot open ***REDACTED BY MODERATOR***.pdf ! Error Code: 1
I have definitely switched to ‘binary transfer mode’ – have I created the src directory incorrectly? The folder is listed directly after my public_html directory. I right clicked the uploaded file to copy the file’s url to the clipboard and then pasted that into my product. Could that be the problem as it looks like a strange link?! Your help is very much appreciated! m? Thank you.
March 30, 2014 at 2:52 pm #61819wzpModeratorIt appears you have some kind of directory authentication protection setup. It is not letting the stamper access that PDF file. If you have a .htaccess and .htpasswd file in the source directory, remove it.
April 2, 2014 at 5:20 pm #61820lisaportusMemberHi. There’s no .htaccess or .htpasswd file in the src directory – just the file I uploaded. I’ve also viewed using ‘Force showing hidden files’ – but still nothing. What do I do now? Thank you.
April 17, 2014 at 1:20 am #61821wzpModeratorIt looks like you placed the src directory in your hosting account root, and not in the web server document root. Please move it, so that it resides underneath the public_html directory.
October 1, 2016 at 7:40 am #61822chefmarshallMemberHi,
I am using WP 4.6 (we had more trouble when we updated to 4.6.1 – we reverted to 4.6 – suggestion made from our host, the eStore plugin Version 7.4.1 and the PDF Stamper Version 4.5.3., and our website has a custom made bootstrap theme.
We are selling pdf files. The payment goes through just fine. An email is received with a link. There is an error right after the link:
(Error code: PDF01). Perform a manual stamping and make sure the PDF stamper is working on your server.
I have tested the manual stamping and it works fine. I have also checked the debug log in the PDF Stamper:
[10/01/2016 6:29 AM] – SUCCESS :Processing file stamping request via internal API.
[10/01/2016 6:29 AM] – SUCCESS :Autoloading library for stamping process
[10/01/2016 6:29 AM]
When the link from the email is clicked to download the pdf this error comes up:
The secure download manager ran into a problem that it couldn’t handle, and is unable to process your download request.
The problem was due to the following reason:
Error! The product ID value is not numeric. WP eStore’s product ID must be a numeric value. Please contact site admin.
I have also uploaded fresh copies of both of the plugins and it did not make a difference.
This is our product page(not visible on the nav bar):
We are using Stripe for our payment gateway(it is live.)
We had the paid products working fine and the pdfs downloading and we added free downloadable pdfs – using the Extra Shortcodes for WP eStore Version 5.1.4 addon and the eStore Members Only Download Button Version 1.1 when I messed up everything.
I have deactivated the addons and uploaded fresh copies of the eStore and PDF Stamper and you see the errors that we are getting above.
Any help would be appreciated! I would very much like to be able to have this working. I seem to have struggled a lot with it. Have been reading the forum and trying what I can to make it work.
If you have any questions that I can answer for you please let me know.
Thank you in advance.

Does this error only occur for 1 particular product? If so, what is its Product ID?
October 2, 2016 at 2:06 am #61824adminKeymasterLooks like the PDF stamping is completely failing on your site.
Go through the following checklist to make sure the stamper plugin is working again before you use it with eStore:
Use the manual stamping interface to test the stamping.
