On this page: [http://telodesign.com/cr-test/wordpress/?p=35]
I’m using this shortcode: [wp_lightbox_special_anchor_text_pdf link=”wp-content/pdfs/alec-baldwin.pdf” width=”973″ height=”600″ title=”Lunch Date with Alec Baldwin” text=”Click here to open the PDF file”]
For some reason the pdf does not launch in the lightbox, but simply downloads when I click the link. I see the lightbox launch, but nothing’s in it. The pdf is smaller dimensions than the lightbox settings… so I’m not sure what’s going on.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
January 29, 2012 at 5:17 pm #41354robtourMemberI should note–it seems to work on Chrome, but the issue I’m seeing above happens on Safari/Mac. I should note: I CAN navigate directly to the PDF file with the Safari browser, and it displays in the browser without issue.
This is Safari version 5.1 (6534.50), Mac OSX 10.6.8.
Of course my client has Safari, so this is going to be the first thing she sees. I definitely need to fix this, or I can’t use the plug-in. Thank you for your help!
January 30, 2012 at 8:25 am #41355wpCommerceModeratorHi, we did a research on this and found that many users are having the same problem. Several users started having this issue after Safari 5.0.5. We have also tested this with different libraries (which includes changing adobe acrobat/reader options to display pdf in browser) and none of them worked. It’s like it’s just impossible to view PDF file in lightbox for Safari. So we are guessing that it’s a Safari bug.
However, we have a new workaround for this. Please do the following:
1. Deactivate and delete the currently installed version of the plugin(s).
2. Download a fresh build of the plugin(s) from here:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/update-request
3. Upload and activate this version of the plugin(s).
Now use any of the following shortcodes to display PDF file in overlay:
For Anchor Text
[wp_lightbox_prettyPhoto_anchor_text_pdf link="http://www.example.com/ebook/sample-ebook.pdf" width="640" height="480" title="Title goes here" text="Click here to open the pdf file"]
For Anchor Image
[wp_lightbox_prettyPhoto_pdf link="http://www.example.com/ebook/sample-ebook.pdf" width="640" height="480" title="Title goes here" source="http://www.example.com/image/anchor-image.png"]
Let me know how it goes.
January 30, 2012 at 3:16 pm #41356robtourMemberThis did work, thank you! I have another question, but I’ll put it into another post for clarity’s sake. Thanks again.
January 31, 2012 at 5:16 am #41357wpCommerceModeratorYou’re welcome. I’m glad that it worked for you
December 17, 2013 at 2:49 pm #41358rmwarrenMemberI just purchased the plugin and installed V 2.0.8, having a similar issue with PDF’s in both Safari and Chrome on an iPad. It displays the first portion of the PDF fine, but I cannot scroll down or download the PDF.
Works fine on a computer, just not an iPad.
The links in question are here:
