I got an email from my own eStore, saying that I had a sale. The notification says the purchase was a membership subscription at the amount of $. Notice it’s not $0 but actually “$”, so nothing.
Next email is from PayPal saying “there’s been a change to your PayPal automatic payment from …” but there, the amount for the automatic payment is correct.
I was very surprised to see this, so I emailed my customer and here is his reply.
Hey Robert …
My membership is renewed through a PayPal subscription (I signed up initially in on December 2, 2019).
I changed my payment method in PayPal this morning (updated my credit card information) … this (apparently) triggered a ‘no charge’ renewal (???).
Can you shed a light on why this happened?
Normally that shouldn’t trigger any notification from estore. You would only get a notification from PayPal for it. Unless that user’s subscription was due and PayPal’s charge failed until the funding was fixed by the user.
Is this a monthly subscription? Do you have the debug logging option enabled for eStore plugin by any chance?
Yeah it is a monthly subscription. The buyer said “My membership is renewed through a PayPal subscription (I signed up initially in on December 2, 2019). I changed my payment method in PayPal this morning (updated my credit card information) … this (apparently) triggered a ‘no charge’ renewal (???). “
Yes, I do have the debug data. Should email it to you? If so I need your email. I am not sure if it’s a good idea to post this data on this public forum – let me know.
I have sent you an email so you can reply to it and attach the log file.
I replied to your email.
