I was having issues with the contact form on my site. It wouldn’t forward the content of the contact form to my email address. I had to get a web developer to look at this and fix it for me.
When i manually send an email from e-store containing the download link that doesn’t come through either.
I tried a test email using the wp email smtp plugin and keep getting messages about
SMTP -> ERROR: Failed to connect to server: Permission denied (13)
SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.
However the email does get sent when i use the php email()option
any ideas?
Thank you for your help
May 22, 2012 at 2:39 am #44367adminKeymasterThat proves my suspicion. You really need to address this email issue on a server level (the eStore plugin won’t be able to fix your email issue on the server). Your hosting provider should be able to help with this email issue as it does look like a server side problem.
In the meantime you can try unchecking the following option from eStore settings to try and use a simple php mailer and see if that works:
Use WordPress Mailing System
Again, you don’t want to end up having a WordPress site where the email functionality is broken. This will cause hassle for each and every plugin you use down the path so correct the problem at the root.

June 14, 2012 at 9:53 am #44369personalprogressMemberHi There
after weeks of attempting to fix the issue we still havent managed to resolve it. On the plus side we haved managed to fix the manual email sending in the admin functions of the plugin.
we are going to do a re install of the estore plugin. Before i do this could you tell me what the setting should be to ensure that emails are sent out containing the download links.
thanks
June 14, 2012 at 11:25 pm #44370adminKeymasterThe default (recommended) option is to check the “Use WordPress Mailing System” field from eStore settings. This basically tells eStore to send the email via your WordPress site. So eStore just gives the email to your WordPress and tells it to send it. Given the email sending functionality in your WordPress install is working, this option will work the best.
