I have used Paypal on other sites where when you get to Paypal it allows you to log into Paypal or to pay as a guest (i.e. you don’t need a Paypal account nor do you need to create one). When your shopping cart transfers over to Paypal it’s forcing me to either log in or Create a Paypal account. I talked my client into using your cart and being only able to pay via Paypal because you don’t need to have an account with them to make a purchase. Is this an option somewhere that I did not find where you don’t need to create Paypal account when you transfer over?
August 6, 2012 at 8:17 pm #48107cjschuelMemberI figured out that this is a setting within Paypal. Sorry for the post. Love your cart so far!
August 24, 2012 at 6:58 pm #48108willwatrousMemberI’m having the same issues. What is the setting you had to change in PayPal please?
August 25, 2012 at 12:27 am #48109adminKeymasterYou most likely don’t have a PayPal premier or business account. PayPal doesn’t offer credit card processing ability to personal PayPal account. You can upgrade your personal PayPal account to a premier or business account for free.

September 12, 2012 at 9:54 pm #48110IngvildMemberI have a similar problem – my clients are forced to create a Paypal-account (Norwegian site) if they don’t have one.
I have a Paypal business account. I have deleted all cookies in my browser. I have enabled Paypal Account Optional…
However, if I try changing the Paypal language and pretend to be e.g. Spanish, then suddenly I am allowed to pay as a guest (but that requires a Spanish credit card, so it won’t work for my customers).
I understand that this is a PayPal issue and have asked Paypal about this, but any idea would be appreciated.
Thank you!
September 13, 2012 at 3:34 am #48111adminKeymasterIf you have a business account then PayPal should show the credit card payment option automatically. If you post a link to your products purchase page I will be able to check it and give you more info.
At the end of the day this is an issue related to your PayPal merchant account so PayPal’s support will be able to give you the best help.
September 13, 2012 at 1:34 pm #48112IngvildMemberPaypal has just replied that as of the beginning of August, they have issued a new legal agreements that for some countries imply that they do no longer allow guest payments.
My next question then, is if 2Checkout allows payment without creating an account? I tried asking on their site, but they said I had to create an account before I could ask any questions! And I don’t want an account, just yet…
I can’t use Authorize.net as I’m not US based.
September 13, 2012 at 11:13 pm #48113adminKeymaster2Checkout does allow credit card payment without having to log in.
Does PayPal offer the “Website Payments Pro” solution to your country? If they do then you could use the gateway bundle addon to do onsite credit card checkout using PayPal:

August 15, 2017 at 12:14 am #48114SunilMemberHello….I’m trying to figure out whether I need to have the Gateway bundle addon to give my customers the option to pay by credit card. I am not seeing an option to pay by credit card without logging in to PayPal – but I am traveling, and currently in Argentina. If I don’t have the Gateway bundle and don’t have Authorize or 2Checkout, can my US customers still pay by credit card even if they don’t have a Paypal account?
Thank you…..
August 15, 2017 at 1:16 am #48115adminKeymasterYour customers can pay via credit card with the standard paypal checkout. However, PayPal requires you to have a paypal business or premier account to accept credit card from your customers.
