I’m using buy now buttons for my digital product. When I pay with my PayPal account I automatically get redirected to my thank you page once the transaction is complete.
However, when I pay as a guest with a credit card I do NOT automatically get redirected to my thank you page. Instead, I’m brought to a confirmation page on PayPal with a link that says “return to [name of my website]” When I click on this link I end up on my thank you page.
When I pay as a guest using e-junkie there is no automatic redirection either. However, instead of the “return to [name of my website]” link, there is a prominent orange button that says “complete purchase.”
I have two questions:
1. Is it possible to make PayPal automatically redirect to my thank you page when someone pays as a guest?
2. If not, is it possible to implement an orange “complete purchase” button like e-junkie in place of the “return to [name of my website]” link.
Because my demographic isn’t very computer savvy I need a solid a way of getting them back to my thank you page where the download links reside. And although they will get the email with a download link, I need them to end up back on my site so that I can track which keywords led to the purchase.
Thanks.
Figured out how to address #2. You simply go to Settings -> Payment Gateway Settings -> Customize the return button text. Any text you enter automatically gets converted into an orange button on the PayPal confirmation page.
However, if someone can tell me how to implement #1 that would be great, if possible.
PayPal doesn’t use “auto redirect” when someone makes a payment as a guest. Its PayPal’s policy unfortunately. If you make the return text something like the following it should do the job:
Click here to complete the purchase
