I’m having a problem to get members created. I’m using the PayPal buttons and I have them set properly as near as I can tell but nothing is happening when the user is returned to the “Thank You” page. I get the email from Paypal, but nothing on this end.
I looked in the “ipn” directory and noticed the eMember_handle_paypal_ipn.php didn’t have execute permissions so I added them, however that didn’t fix the issue. The log files are set at 0 as well. The log files didn’t have write permissions so I enabled that as well, still nothing.
Any ideas?
Hi, Please run a test transaction with the debug turned on as this will give us a better idea of what is happening.
You can enable the debug from the settings menu of the plugin. Once you are done share the content of the debug files from the “ipn” directory of the plugin.
If the debug file is empty after the test transaction then go through the check list here which will reveal the actual issue:

The above post was created for the eStore plugin but the concept is the same and the methods apply to eMember plugin too.
Ahhhh… Thanks for reminding me of the Debug box. Turns out I had the “sandbox” box checked and was using a live account, for the transaction (I’ve had tons of trouble with the PayPal sandbox). So it turn out the IPN couldn’t find the account in the sandbox.
You might want to change the wording in that area to indicate that you have to be using a sandbox account for it to work properly. Just thinking…
Thanks.
