ParticipantI cannot get password protected galleries to accept the password when using Edge Browser (current version 90.0.818.56) or Firefox (current version 88.0.1 (64-bit))
Seems to work ok in Chrome (Version 90.0.4430.212) but why does it not work in Edge or Firefox?
I am prompted for the password but when I enter it and press ‘enter’ the password page remains rather than displaying the associated gallery.
I have installed the latest version of WP Photo Seller (2.5.0) but that didn’t help.May 16, 2021 at 6:58 pm #83025wzp
ModeratorIf you use either browser in incognito mode, are you still having problems?

KeymasterPost a URL to the page and tell us how to see the issue on the page. I should be able to have some clue after that.

ParticipantSame issue when using incognito mode. Link below requires the password class1 in order to view.

KeymasterFor me, I can view the gallery fine in Firefox. When you have discrepancies like the one you explained, it usually means that there is a page caching issue. So in one browser you are getting a cached page served by the host. On another browser you may not be getting a cached page. That will create inconsistent behavior like the one you explained.
Does your hosting provider use any kind of caching?
Also, I am seeing the following warnings in the console for your site.
Tracking Prevention blocked access to storage for ....I am not sure if you have something on your site that is stopping the cookies from working correctly. The password feature won’t work without cookies working correctly.

Do you have anything on your site, that is trying to access a browser’s local storage???May 23, 2021 at 6:15 am #83047galloal1
ParticipantI have built an completely new site as a subdomain using WordPress entirely. I installed WordPress, a theme (Ephemeris), WP Photo Seller and activated it. I created a gallery and an album and designed the site entirely using the default WordPress tools.
I have now disabled caching at my hosting provider. I’m not aware of anything that would stop cookies working, as mentioned this is pretty much a default installation of WordPress so I’m not sure if there is something I need to do to ensure cookies are enabled. Also, not aware of anything that would try to access a browsers local storage but perhaps redesigning everything using default WP settings may have alleviated any issues presented with the original site.
I would appreciate if someone could check this new link and see if there are any issues that may be causing problems.
I have tested this using Edge, Chrome, Brave and Firefox browsers. I am now getting mixed results. Sometimes I am asked for a password and it works, sometimes it keeps asking for the password and sometimes it shows the gallery without requiring a password. I am assuming the latter has something to do with locally cached settings as I seem to be getting more success when I clear the cache for all these browsers and try using a fresh browser although still with pretty varied success.

Password is classpass
Thank you very much for all your help so far, I really do appreciate it as I would in no way class myself as a web designer so am very new to all this and seem to be dealing with a very steep learning curve.May 25, 2021 at 3:42 pm #83056wzp
ModeratorIt is my belief the issue is server related. I first tried Chrome and got the expected results. But when I went to Firefox, it acted as though I had already entered a password. You may need assistance fro your hosting provider.
