Wups!
I was editing the download email contents in the php file. No biggie, I had done it before..
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘!’ in /home/pathwayp/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-cart-for-digital-products/languages/eng.php on line 132

The offending text I presume was the Welcome!, however this has been removed (and deleted).
However changes are not occurring and the whole site is locked against me.

Ok.
Panic attack over. Best advice is to take a walk for a few minutes and come back to it.
The solution I found was to enter Cpanel, find the eng.php file in the plugin page and remove the offending text.
There is a guide available here on how to edit the file safely that Ivy wrote.
Also, you could use the following trick to deactivate the plugin and then reload a fresh new copy of the plugin:
