I have someone who ordered an item through our Simple Shopping Cart plug in. She received a confirmation email at the time she ordered, as she should. However, she received the same confirmation email again today, though she has not placed any more orders. What would cause this and how can it be prevented? I don’t want to spam buyers.
Are we talking about the email sent from PayPal itself, or from the plugin?
From the plugin, not PayPal.
How many emails does the debug log show being sent? If it was the plugin, the debug log would show 2 emails being sent. If only 1 email is shown in the debug logs as being sent, then the problem is outside the plugin.
Is your hosting provider also providing the SMTP server? Example; your site is hosted on GoDaddy are you also using their SMTP server? Sometimes, technical issues occur, and buffered messages end up being resent; sometimes months or years later. In 2003, some families got email that was originally sent by people that were in the Twin Towers on 9-11. And last November, thousands of people got text messages that were originally sent on Valentine’s Day.
Please keep the debug logs turned on, and periodically check them if this issue happens again.
Thanks for your reply.
We are using a G-Suite email account for sending the emails, not our web hosting provider.
Where would I find the debug logs and determine if they are turned on?
