Is there a way to display the shopping cart icon in the menu area? This would allow people to get to their cart easier no matter what page they are on.
Yes you have two options:
1) you can apply the following shortcode to a text widget (or similar):
[WPS_display_compact_cart]
2) You can use the ready-made widget called “WPS Shopping Cart”
Great. Thank you.
Hi, I’ve tried this but the cart doesn’t appear on the home page even though there appears to be a space for it. It appears on the other pages.
Secondly, is there no way to just have the cart icon somewhere in the top right corner. It’s very common on e-commerce sites in my experience.
Third quick question, I see a “shop sidebar” as well as a sidebar. What is it’s purpose, I cant seem to get it to appear?
Thanks
Brian
The compact shopping cart shortcode can be placed anyplace on your page. Please provide more context to your questions. For instance, the “shop sidebar” you referred to; we don’t understand what you mean. Can you provide a live URL to a test page, that we can refer to?
Your home page may be cached so it is showing a cached page. Also, make sure that your them is showing the shopping cart in the homepage. Some themes show different layout for the different pages (for example: homepage can have a different layout than a normal wp page).
Keep in mind that your theme can have some options that we won’t have any idea about. We don’t do anything called a “Shop sidebar”. That is something most likely coming from your theme or another plugin. You can do the following test to find out what is coming from where:
