Let’s say an affiliate gets a sale but I have a 30 day money-back offer. Is there a way of making sure I don’t pay the affiliate until the 30 days is up?
September 15, 2011 at 11:42 pm #36668adminKeymasterIntroduce a delay (cooling period) before you pay your affiliates. For example, the June’s affiliate payment will be paid on the 30th of July (not the 1st of July)… July’s affiliate payment will be paid on the 30th of August and so on.
Affiliate Payout option B or C will allow you to do that.
The other option is to just pay them whenever you want to and even if a refund takes place after paying the affiliates, it will put their commission into negative. This makes it to where they can’t get another payout until they make another sale to cover that. So when you look at the data beyond one month it all gets adjusted.

I’m new to the plugin and I at first sight I really love it. Nevertheless I have trouble with the issue above.
I offer a 30 day money-back guarantee. Let’s say an affiliate sells 4 items at the beginning of the month and 5 at the end. When I pay him for the first 4, I automatically pay the commission for the last 5. But if one or more of the last 5 is refunded, I’m left with the commission.
I get your point that it gets adjusted over the months, but if you work with bloggers they usually do only one post. And I’m a bit afraid that affiliates could fake some of their last sales to get a bigger payout.
Is there another way to handle this? It would be great if it would only pay out sales that are e.g. 30-days old. By the way, sorry if my English is bad or I misunderstood something.
Thanks in advance,
Hendrik
August 25, 2012 at 12:33 am #36670adminKeymasterHi Hendrik, it is a common practice to delay the affiliate payment. Simply use option B or C from the “Manage Payouts” menu to generate your affiliate payout report. These options allow you to set a cut-off date in the past so you are never paying out commissions that were generated in the last 30 days for example.
So for example, lets say on the 30th of August you wanted to pay all commissions that were earned before 31st July. Simply use 31st July as the cutoff date and the payout report that the plugin generates will only include all commissions that was earned upto 31st July (it won’t include any commission that was earned in August). You will then do the same for September, October and so on.
