Hello!
I found many similar subjects but non of them is pretty clear for me. So… let’s say that we have a product with just one serial. Two customers adds this product to their cart. As i can understand, both of them will go through Paypal and they can pay for it.
I found a solution in the forum:
“If this is anticipated to be a popular item, perhaps you can set the available quantity, so as to allow you a 1 or 2 serial key “buffer.” Alternatively, you can place any message of your choosing in the key database; as long as it does not contain a comma, as follows:
172635, 938465, OUT OF SERIAL NUMBER ERROR — PLEASE CONTACT US ASAP FOR RESOLUTION”
but this can happen to multiple products. Many customers will be frustrated about this.
Plus… i don’t know if i will be able to find new keys for the same product. So this is going to be a huge problem.
Is there any solution? Any kind of counter with a counter when a customer adds a product in his cart? Is there any option in eStore?
The fact is that i have 35 products with just one serial per product and I’m expecting more that 100 customers. That means we are going to face that problem from the first day.
As an astute business owner, you should be monitoring your sales closely enough, to prevent serial number shortages, and provisioning your inventory appropriately. Imagine walking into an Apple Store that only has 1 of everything on the shelf.
What you are describing is called a “race condition.” Other than the measures previously discussed on this subject; you can go crazy with countless numbers of these “thought experiments.”
You are going to sell a product that will use a serial key but you ONLY have ONE key? Is like a limited stock thing where you will be selling 1 quantity of a product and thats it.
I know it sounds weird but this is the case! The bad thing is that i’m not authorized to give more details about this just because it’s a new project/idea. So, is there any way to prevent this? A script? An extra addon maybe?
