Is it possible to require new members to acknowledge a licensing agreement when logging in for the first time? I would need it for only one or two of the membership levels, not all of them and I only want it to display once. If the agreement is not accepted, then they would not be able to log in. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Another option might be to add a checkbox acknowledging the terms of service on the login form itself. I would consider this as well even if it did mean that every user would have to check the box before logging in. Again, your assistance is appreciated. Thank you.
What’s wrong with using the Terms & Conditions checkbox on the membership registration form?
Our members do not register themselves. Registrations are done manually after they purchase a specific product which allows access to private pages and content. So, there is no way for the user/member to see the Terms & Conditions on the membership registration form.
Are you using eStore? You can force a Terms & Conditions agreement at checkout; since it’s really less trouble to get their agreement, before taking their money.
But… if you insist on making changes to the login process, you can always edit the login widget form:

Note, that if you do this, users are forced to check the box each and every time they login; because there is no way to tell if they previously complied.
The proper way to do this is to have terms and conditions on your registration page. So when they are registering, they are agreeing to your terms (once). Then any continued use of the site is covered by that terms. YOu don’t really want to allow them to even register if they don’t’ accept your terms.
There is an option to show terms and conditions in the registration form.
