Amin007, I am sorry if I came across as rude. I do appologize. But in reality. I am a broadband technician. I am somewhat intellegent and resourcefull. I have tought myself web design in Flash, dreamweaver, wordpress as well as html, php, css and a couple of others. Now, the reason I am so frusterated is that I have a product I wish to sell. I have a site, and I have been messing around with eshop for 3 weeks unsuccesfully. It has driven me bonkers. “And Yes” I have followed the documentations to a tee, Yes I have read the forums over and over, I even bought the $25.00 version hoping for clarity and an easier way. I can get eshop to direct me back to the site after paypal to receive my instant download on both the free version and the premium version. But after 65 hours of relentless attempts and carefull study of the forums and documentations…. I can’t for the life of me get shop to send an email out to a customer after payment has been completed. So amin007, once again I am sorry. But its gotten to the point of driving me crazy, once again I appologize for my rudeness. You have created an awsome product and I do appeciate your hard work and those who have been involved with this project. But, I can not for the life of me get it to send the email out to customers. So, Maybe I can ask you…in the future would you please consider maybe making the complete idiots guide to eshop for me, lol. Anyways, sorry again and thanks for all of your hard work. I really appreciate the wordpress community and all it has become. But please tell me how to get those emails going to my customers from my site.
November 14, 2009 at 6:27 pm #16055FrankMemberhey cableman,
maybe I can offer you some assistance. This may be a restriction by the hosting provider. Are you using hostgator by chance? Many are turning off the ability of php to send emails with the builtin command. Damn spammers making it harder for us!
Anyhow, if you are, look for the plugin called Cimy Swift SMTP. Here’s a link for you: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/cimy-swift-smtp/ . When I was with hostgator I had to run this plugin to get wordpress to send any emails.
Hope this helps mate. I know how frustrating getting something working can be.

November 14, 2009 at 9:22 pm #16056cablemanMemberwell thank youfthomas137, i will try that. My host provider is justhost.com. I have spent hours discussing this matter with them. They could not get me to a resolution. But I will try that plugin you mentioned, Thanks again for your insight.
November 14, 2009 at 9:52 pm #16057cablemanMemberHeya fthomas, I did try that plugin and it did send and email to my emaill address but upon returning from paypal after placing my order. My site still did not reply to my inbox with the downloadable info. it didnt even send a blank email. Oh well, I guess its back to pounding my head on the keyboard some more. Thanks again fthomas
November 14, 2009 at 11:21 pm #16058amin007Participant@Cableman, I understand your situation… the thing is that there are thousands of hosting companies with different configurations and stuff so even though I know that the plugin will work on 95% of the servers off the bat but there is always going to be that 5 or 10 percentage where it will need a little push. Lets try to identify the issue first so I can see what needs to be done.
Questions for you…
1) Have you changed any code in the plugin?
2) Do you get emails from your wordpress site when someone leaves a comment on your site? This indicates that wordpress is mailing stuff out fine.
3) Have you run the test transaction in Debug mode? This is suggested in the “How to Test” post (http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/ecommerce/how-to-test-the-wordpress-estore-to-make-sure-everything-is-working-properly-35)
4) If the answer to question 3 is yes then can you please share the contents of the “ipn_handle_debug.log” file?
November 15, 2009 at 9:08 am #16059cablemanMemberHello again, No I havent changed any codeing at all. I am only basically familiar with the wordpress file structure. I can change header, footer and other basic things such as side bar positions, sizes ect. and I can incorporate flash and things of this nature. I dont know enough to make hard code changes though.
As far as my host goes, I use justhost.com. They have assured me 3 times that the ability to send mail via php from my site is not disabled and that MOD_Security is not playing tricks with me.
I have run trials with debug mode on but the ipn_handle_debug.log file is blank. I have verified that the site is running with debug enabled but it still comes out blank.
On the lighter side, At least my customers will be able to make a purchase and recive there product from the landing page after returning from paypal. Thats a plus. Anyway, hope this helps. Thanks again.
November 15, 2009 at 9:11 am #16060cablemanMemberPS, if needed I would allow access to the backend if you think you may be able to get a better picture. Let me know and we can arrange an email for the info. My email is james@entechpc.com.
November 15, 2009 at 11:47 am #16061amin007Participant@cableman, thanks for the info… debug file empty means the plugin is not receiving the payment notification from PayPal (the plugin won’t email the product out unless it receives payment confirmation from PayPal).
So this is the issue we need to investigate and fix (you can spend 100s of hours trying to get the email going but it’s not gonna help unless we identify why PayPal isn’t sending payment notification).
Here are the next set of questions:
1) Do you have the “Email Notification & Digital Product Delivery” checkbox in the settings menu checked? If this option is not checked then the plugin won’t tell PayPal to send IPN (Instant Payment Notification) to the plugin.
2) If #1 is not the issue then I have a feeling your site is blocking IPN from PayPal. There can be two reasons for this:
a) Your server has a firewall that is blocking PayPal’s IPN
b) You have a plugin that is blocking PayPal’s IPN (Bad behavior plugin one such pluign known to do this)
Please post a link to the page where you are using this plugin and I will be able to confirm #2 for you.
November 15, 2009 at 1:31 pm #16062cablemanMemberOk, just let me say this in response to #1. not sure if this makes a difference or not, but here goes. I do have “Email Notification & Digital Product Delivery” checkbox in the settings menu checked. AND!!!
When I purchase a product from my site and go thru paypal. I have set up the paypal button to take me back to my site to download the product. This is working. I can make payment and go back to my site and can recive my product from the download page. Of course Im not sure if this is reletive to the IPN service…? Ok I check with justhost.com, They dont block any ipn transmissions or interactions with paypal. 90% of there customers are online merchants that rely on the communications between the host and the merchant gateway…
Ok #2, the link to my site is http://www.entechpc.com .Im only using a couple of plugins right now. They are, headspace for seo, exclude pages from navigation, fast and secure contact form, next gen gallery (which is not actually running yet), show id’s and premium wp estore. I will be adding about 3 more that will be realting to SEO and stuff. Check it out and see if you can tell if theres anything causing any issues. If you can identify anything I will make appropriate changes. Thanks again amin007
November 15, 2009 at 1:39 pm #16063cablemanMemberOh and I know my site looks terrible, please dont laugh at it I am working on it!!
November 15, 2009 at 5:05 pm #16064cablemanMemberamin007 , I finally got it work, in paypal we had it setup with no forward address, which appears to O.K.. Under the ipn settings, we had the ipn activated but the return url was wrong. I put in the url “http://mysite/wp-content/plugins/wp-cart-for-digital-products/” as the return url and Walaa!! its working. Thank you for all of your help in this matter. I love the eshop plugin and congradulate you on a job well done! Thaks again, James…now if i can only figure out how to get it integrated with nextgen photo gallery,,,,,, got a link to that instrcutional? lol
