We are selling instructional videos, which are broken up into lessons. We want to sell the lesson as one product, with 12 individual downloads. Is there a way to accomplish this? The videos are hosted on Amazon s3.
I see the solution of zipping the products together with one link. Is this the best way to do that? It would be a total of about 45 minutes, so worried about the size of the file.
January 13, 2014 at 2:23 am #60274wzpModeratorThere are 2 ways to do this:
1. As suggested, zip everythig together and download via Amazon S3.
2. Assign each video file to a Download Now button, on an APRTP protected page. The advantage of this is that you can format the page with additional information about each lesson, and it allows you to easily update the package in an incremental fashion when necessary; without the need to update any zip files. The APRTP protected page is on your server, and the individual files are on Amazon S3.

Please make sure you use the proper Amazon S3 integration method, or else you will double the bandwidth usage of your server.
January 13, 2014 at 9:27 am #60275theshiftMemberOh yes, the APRTP page seems the way to go. It will be a week or so before I have it up and running, then I’ll get back to you with the results. Perfect! Thanks!
January 14, 2014 at 9:22 pm #60276theshiftMemberHi – I have the page set up, and now I am doing some tests of one of the products using a download now button, using this code: [wp_eStore_download_now_button id=3]
When I click on it to test I get this message:
The secure download manager ran into a problem that it couldn’t handle, and is unable to process your download request.
The problem was due to the following reason:
The download link (see browser address bar) has expired (it’s too old). If you think this reason is in error, please contact the site administrator.
And this is the address in the bar:
[redacted]
I don’t have anything set for amount of times anything can be downloaded.
Thanks for your help!
January 14, 2014 at 10:27 pm #60277adminKeymasterThe expiry field needs a value. If for some reason you want to allow users to be able to use the encrypted link for a long time then use a large value like 99999
January 14, 2014 at 10:43 pm #60278theshiftMemberOkay – did that .. still got the same message.
January 14, 2014 at 11:12 pm #60279wzpModeratorIf you go to the Admin Functions panel, and manually generate an encrypted link for Peoduct ID 3, does the link work?
January 14, 2014 at 11:18 pm #60280theshiftMembernope
January 14, 2014 at 11:19 pm #60281theshiftMemberHOWEVER – I see it is a different message. It doesn’t like the folder names with capital letters .. let me try and fix that and see what happens
January 15, 2014 at 12:37 am #60282theshiftMemberOk – I changed all the folders to lower case. This video does play. Just not download. this is what the link looks like in my product folder.
as3tp://activeawarenessarts.s3.amazonaws.com/lessons/taiji/taiji_ruler/lesson/ruler_opening_forms.mp4
And this is now the message I get:
Please tell the site administrator the problem was due to the following reason:
The digital product associated with the download link (see browser address bar) contains a malformed Amazon S3 URI. The administrator should specifically ensure that bucket names are in compliance with Amazon’s bucket naming restrictions.
And the debug log:
[01/15/2014 12:33 AM] – Status : AS3TP URI request = as3tp://activeawarenessarts.s3.amazonaws.com/lessons/taiji/taiji_ruler/lesson/ruler_opening_forms.mp4
[01/15/2014 12:33 AM] – Status : Malformed or misconfigured AS3TP URI request!
January 15, 2014 at 1:38 am #60283wpCommerceModerator@theshift, we need to take a closer look at your site to see what is happening. I have sent an email to your registered email address for site access. Let me know if you don’t receive it.
January 15, 2014 at 2:08 am #60284theshiftMemberThanks – got it – and responded. Appreciate this help!
January 16, 2014 at 12:22 am #60285wpCommerceModeratorIt turned out that you didn’t enter your Amazon S3 credentials in the eStore settings. That’s the first step of the integration:
