Is it possible to have an initial high price item (e.g. $900) to be evenly split over 3 months of (i.e. $300) and then start a recurring billing process after the 4 month to let’s say $100? If so, how does one set it up?

No, you won’t be able to do it that way. The closest thing that I can think of is the following PayPal installment payment option (but it won’t do exactly what you explained):
