Hi – I have Lightbox Ultimate and have been using it for a good few months with no issues. This week, the mp4 videos have stopped playing. The overlay comes up but the video doesn’t play and there’s no error message.

I have one YouTube video that isn’t effected & pdfs seem to be displaying OK.

I’m launching some new products and the videos are crucial so really need help.

I have recently installed a few plugins (myEasybackup / BulletProof Security) and uninstalled a few inactive plugins.

I have also uninstalled and then re-installed Lightbox but no change.

You can see an example of a video not playing at: [http://modalmusic.biz]

The short code I have used for this video is:

    [wp_lightbox_special_anchor_text_mp4_video link=”/modalmusic.biz/wp-content/modalmusic_reggae_2x_table_vocal_video.mp4″ width=”640″ height=”480″ title=”Count Me In – Reggae 2 x Table” text=”Click here to see the Reggae 2 x Table video”]

Many thanks in advance – Dorian Kelly

Hi, I couldn’t find any mp4 shortcode on that page (they are all colorbox shortcodes for vimeo videos).

Please post a link to the exact page where you have embedded the mp4 shortcode.

This post might be helpful – https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/all-videos-are-repeating

Hi – yes at the moment all the shortcodes are colorbox for vimeo but’s that because none of the mp4 shorcodes were working and I really needed to get the videos back online asap as I had potential customers telling me that the links were not working. I don’t want to put up video links that don’t work as it makes the site look bad.

Originally I had all my videos (except 1) as mp4s running through lightbox ultimate and they all worked fine. This week, all these videos stopped working – when you clicked on the link the overlay would pop up but the video would not load and there was no triangle ‘play’ button. Ivy from Tips & Tricks asked if I had deleted or upgraded any plugins recently and I told here that I had deleted some inactive ones and upgraded a few active ones but I still don’t know why this is relevant. pdfs or YouTube / Vimeo videos seem unaffected.

Earlier in the week I also deactivated / uninstalled / re-installed the Lightbox Ultimate plugin but it made no difference.

When the mp4 videos were working, they were all uploaded to either my DreamHost ftp site or Amazon S3 and like said earlier, there were no problems.

Why should they stop working out of the blue? Would really like to get to the bottom of this. Many thanks – Dorian

Hi, upgrading a plugin means there is a chance of including new script (from that plugin) and that might conflict with our plugin, which is why it is relevant.

Unfortunately the plugin doesn’t send us any notification as to why it stopped working suddenly on your site. We need to see the page with shortcodes to troubleshoot this.

If you don’t want to use the old page just create a new page and embed those shortcodes. Then you can exclude the page from the menubar. That why your site visitors won’t accidentally navigate to that page.

Hi – thanks for the reply. Have set up a page called Video Test (couldn’t see a way of excluding it from the menu bar):

Here’s the Lightbox Ultimate shortcode I used:

    [wp_lightbox_special_anchor_text_mp4_video link=”http://www.modalmusic.biz/wp-content/modalmusic_reggae_2x_table_vocal_video.mp4″ width=”640″ height=”480″ title=”‘Count Me In’ Reggae 2 x Table ” text=”Watch the Reggae 2 x Table”]

    Thanks – Dorian Kelly

Hi, It’s doing the same on my test site. I think there is something wrong with the video format.

    We’ve two solutions outlined here – https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/issues-with-getting-video-to-autoplay

Please try them and let me know if it changes anything.

We have other robust shortcodes for MP4 videos. So you shouldn’t be using Lightbox special shortcodes anymore. For example –

    [wp_lightbox_anchor_text_mp4_video link="http://www.modalmusic.biz/wp-content/modalmusic_reggae_2x_table_vocal_video.mp4" width="640" height="480" text="Watch the Reggae 2 x Table"]

For more info please refer to the shortcode reference guide (MP4 Video Display section):

Hi wpCommerce – thanks for the info. I used the more ‘robust shortcode’ that you suggested and that worked although I’m getting a drop-out in picture quality in places.

I’m going to spend a little time checking that this loss of quality is not in the original file, then re-upload all my video files to my ftp and use the new shortcode for all of them. I might also try putting them through the h264 encoder software.

Thanks for your help. Regards – modal

Well, I searched for some free H264 software and put them all together. But you can use a different one if that ensures the quality (e.g. a premium H264 encoder). It’s up to you.

Basically your video files should be H264 encoded. It doesn’t matter what H264 encoder you use.

I’m glad that the shortcode worked for you.

i Tryed with a youtube video.Which works Fine with the folowing sortcode.:

[wp_lightbox_prettyPhoto_anchor_text_video link=”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fU6HlyFGXs” width=”500″ height=”500″ text=”Click here to open the Youtube video” description=”Video description goes here”]

Im linked in my own video as well.:[wp_lightbox_flowplayer_anchor_text_video link=”ttp://lucifer/mozi/finish/A.szellemlovas.2-A.bosszu.ereje.2011.BDRip.XviD.HuN-iNFeST.mov” width=”640″ height=”480″ text=”Click here to open the video”]

Which Not Working.Occasionally i got an Error message “200, Stream not found….file name and location url…..”

It started play a movie after 10-15minutes,the voice was ok,when its started play, but the picture was scraced like a wrong type of video file.

I have been tested my own network, which is run with cisco router, dell swicth over lan.

the network speed, was great,so i think, that the reason of this fault is Not a wrong or slow network connection.

    Regards

Hi, unfortunately I can’t tell you what’s happening until I can actually see that page.

“200, Stream not found” – this error usually happens when the player can’t find the the media file or the URL is invalid.

Please also make sure that your videos are properly encoded.
