I tried this on a client site and had problems, so I copied the HTML of the client page to my test site which you can view at http://173.192.114.221/~wptest/concierge-services/
I can get a YouTube video to display but not an MP4. I can view the MP4 in QuickTime with no problem. I deactivated all the plugins on my test site except of course for the lightbox plugin. Right now the theme is set to the theme I’m using on my client’s site, but I also tried the default Twenty Ten theme and the video would not display.
I saw all the forum posts about themes and plugins including a second copy of jQuery library and causing a conflict, but I cannot seem to isolate my problem and was hoping someone could help me.
Please let me know if you need more info and thanks in advance for your assistance!
July 16, 2011 at 3:29 am #34311wpCommerceModeratorI think you have some css issues on this page as I can’t view the page fully on Firefox.
I’ve tried copying your mp4 shortcode on my test site. It plays fine but I can only hear the sound. Can you please make sure that the mp4 you are using is properly encoded (not just with a .mp4 extension)?
Anyway, what version of the WP Lightbox Ultimate Plugin are you using?
July 16, 2011 at 3:36 am #34312sandylomasMemberThanks for the quick response! I was trying to figure out the Firefox issue, too. The page displays fine in IE so not sure what to do there. Can you tell me what would be the proper encoding? Sorry…I have not done a lot of video and trying to learn. I’m using version 1.3.2 of the plugin.

July 17, 2011 at 6:20 am #34314sandylomasMemberBased on your last comment, I’ve been trying to figure out the encoding without much luck. The original video I was trying to get to work was created by someone else in Windows Movie Maker and saved as a wmv and then converted to an mp4 with a program called Ultra MP4 Video Converter. Since this did not work, can you recommend a way to convert a wmv to an mp4 and have it encoded properly?
I also tried some more things on my test site. I had an mp4 video that I shot with a Sony Webbie HD. My understanding is that this video is MPEG-4 AVC/H.264. Is this also not the correct encoding? It does not play on my test site either. You can look at the page at http://173.192.114.221/~wptest/test/
Thanks again for your help!
July 18, 2011 at 1:52 am #34315wpCommerceModeratorI don’t think you have encoding issue anymore as the mp4 video on this page – “http://173.192.114.221/~wptest/test/” is working fine on my test server.
Can you please try any of the following shortcodes to see if it makes any change –
For Anchor Text:
[wp_lightbox_flowplayer_anchor_text_video link="http://173.192.114.221/~wptest/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/MAH00001.mp4" width="640" height="480" text="Click here to open the video"]
For Anchor Image:

You need to have the “Flowplayer” checkbox enabled in the settings to use these shortcodes.
Let me know how it goes.
July 18, 2011 at 3:53 am #34316sandylomasMemberI was able to see that video using Flowplayer. I changed back to my original video…the one I need to use on my client’s site that was converted from a wmv to an mp4…and I can only hear the audio. I guess the problem there is indeed with the video. Can you make a recommendation on what I can use to convert properly?
Should I be able to use the lightbox special with mp4 videos? I kind of like the look and feel of it better.
Unrelated question…What kind of license do I have? I purchased this plugin specifically for one client’s site but would like to use it on others if I can.
Thanks!
July 19, 2011 at 12:34 am #34317wpCommerceModeratorFlowplayer shortcodes were added recently and they are more robust. That’s why I recommended you to use Flowplayer to play any mp4,flv or mov files.
There are many video converting software out there. I don’t know which one to recommend. I’m sure you will figure out one.
You are granted the right to install the plugin on as many websites as you want, limited only to websites you own (so if you purchase it you can use it on your other sites. You can’t distribute the plugin to other people(e.g. your client). They will have to purchase it for their sites).
